PATRICK M. FLAHERTY

FLAHERTY, Patrick M. Age 81, longtime resident of both Chelmsford and Dracut, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Montreal, Canada, son of the late Patrick J. and Margaret (Mulkerrins) Flaherty, Patrick was raised in Dorchester, MA. Upon graduating from Christopher Columbus High School in 1960, Patrick received his Associates Degree in Civil and Highway Engineering from Wentworth Institute. Drafted for the Vietnam War in 1966, he served with the First Army out of Port Eustis, VA, as a marine engineer. Upon discharge, Patrick graduated from Lowell Tech in 1971 with a BS degree in Civil Engineering. Patrick's career as a Civil Engineer and Land Surveyor spanned over 50 years, first working with Fleming, Bienvenue and Associates and Perini Construction, then opening PM Flaherty Associates, Inc. in Chelmsford, MA. He was a member of the NH Land Surveyors Association; one of the few to have both an engineering and surveying license and he continued to work until the age of 80. Patrick was rarely spotted on the job site without his faithful sidekick and soulmate, Woolfie. Patrick's license plate read, "DAIDEO," and he loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren, Kieran, Porter, Eamon and Paidin. His other interests included hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, Irish set dancing and speaking Gaeilge. He also enjoyed driving his Can AM Spyder and his Triumph Sportster. In addition to his loving partner, Pamela A. Veiga; Patrick is survived by his daughter, Kathleen and her husband, Stephen; son, Patrick and his wife, Joanna; brother, Stephen and his wife, Cathy; as well as his nieces and nephew, Colleen, Meagan and Stephen. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 4 PM to 7 PM, at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 9 AM, at St. John the Evangelist Parish, 115 Middlesex Street, North Chelmsford. Kindly meet at the church. Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
