Patrick Pollino Obituary
A native of Johnstown, PA, and an avid Steelers fan, Pat graduated with honors from the University of Pittsburgh and had a distinguished career in the field of public relations spanning four decades, during which he held management and executive positions with major utilities and management consulting companies-Western Electric, Southwestern Bell, Pennsylvania Electric Company, Arthur D. Little, Temple, Barker & Sloane, and Mercer Management Consulting. He was also a long-time accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), serving for a term as president of its local Boston Chapter, as well as a director on the organization's local and national boards. In addition, he chaired PRSA's national conference held in Boston in 1998. Pat was elected to PRSA's College of Fellows and its Boston Chapter named him their 2006 Beacon Award recipient for Lifetime Achievement in Public Relations.
After retirement, Pat continued his passion for connecting with people while working as a representative for the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau in downtown Boston. He also enjoyed attending family gatherings, traveling, Scrabble, and meals out with family and friends.
While Pat enjoyed success in his career in public relations, his true calling was as a husband, father, and friend.
Memorial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat's memory can be made to the MSPCA and Good Shepherd Community Care.

Pat and I met and worked on staff for years at the Visitors Information Center on the Boston Common. I loved when he would proudly show his Steelers cell phone to Pittsburgh area visitors, they loved it. He was also my friend and fellow member of " the Dino´s". An exclusive club of fellow elder VIC workers who went together on educational and fun adventures, always ending with good food, conversation and laughter. We will continue to do so in his memory and he will always have a seat at our table. He was very proud and loving of his family heritage and also his business and service organizations careers. Very smart, a great wordsmith, funny, with an infectious laugh. Practical, a good listener, and conversationalist, compassionate, humble, genuine and authentic. When I got cancer he was there for me and I likewise for him. He was a true fighter and cancer warrior and I fight on in his memory.
He was a good man!
I miss him.

Pat was my fellow staff member for many years at the Boston Visitors Information Center and I was proud to call him my friend. I especially loved when he would always show his beloved Steers cell phone to fellow Pittsburgh area visitors, they loved this. He and I and four other fellow elder staff at the VIC were called "the Dino´s", an informal select and private club that went on unique, mini educational, fun and social adventures together, always followed by good food, conversation and laughter. A terrific wordsmith, a good and reliable. helpful worker. A very smart, funny man with an infectious laugh. Practical, humble, compassionate, a good conversationalist and listener. So proud of his heritage, family, business and service organizations careers. When I got sick with cancer he was there for me and I did likewise for him. We had a special bond. He was a real, courageous, warrior and fighter in his battle with cancer.
He was a Good Man. I miss him.

My dear friend Pat! My 1st favorite person when I started working at the Visitor Center! I always enjoyed your wit and laughter! You continually impressed me with your knowledge, in so many fields. I will miss our phone conversations and miss how you were always there in my time of need. Love ya big guy, may you rest in peace!

Pat is my oldest, dearest friend. We were toddlers together, Johnstown, Pa., grew up along side one another and have maintained a lifelong friendship. Pat and I grew up and spent a lot of time playing baseball and football. We played tackle football , one on one and used the entire 100 yard field. Pat was the sturdier of the two and would invariably run over me, only to be caught from behind after a fifty yard sprint. What a joy it was, and often we continued by playing electric football at his home.
We also collected football cards to trade or flip for winners. Pat's parent's and grandparents were the nicest people I ever met, always friendly and welcoming and Pat and his brother and sister's are the same. Pat and I shared a common sense of humor regarding the proper and improper uses of the English language. One of the crazier phrases (7th grade mindset) was Pat's "Snapped your jock", which was used when you thought you scored points during 7th grade non sensical banter. Pat always would say it with a flourishing sweep of his arm. Pat's timing was perfect. Pat's wit could subtly destroy pomposity in an instant. Pat was solid, for real and everybody's perfect friend. We are all so lucky to have known him and will miss him dearly. Go Steelers. Dick Keifer

Pat was a joyful presence whenever we worked together at the Visitor Center. He loved talking to people, especially about his Steelers (which I always busted his chops for). He was kind and full of stories and advice. My thoughts are with his loved ones.
