An avid Paul Parent Garden Club listener in the 2000s
, I once met him at Rhode Island's flower show and called the radio show to discuss garden issues. I think I speak for all his listeners, He was alway there for us, just a phone call away. He left too soon. Rest in peace. Amen.

Starting out as a new gardener, I listened to his radio show for many years and enjoyed the comments and suggestions. Once, as a first time caller to the program and scared, Paul knew how to put you at ease so you could ask a question on live radio! It is sad to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family and friends. Thanks to Patrick for continuing the program.

I am very saddened for Paul's untimely passing...just too young.
Many moons ago I would have to set my alarm clock when he had the time slot 6 am - 8 am ..If I'm not mistaken, to listen to Paul. I'd also sometimes put on my Sony walkman (Yes, like I said many moons ago) and take a walk and listen to him. He made me into a better and much more knowledgeable gardener. Living on Cape Cod he always referenced the zone issues or diseases problems that came about because of the weather that year. I loved all the guests he had and often bought the products that were new on the market that made gardening easier and such a joy to have as a hobby. He will be missed!
So very sorry for your loss,

Dearest Paul , I started listening to you and your program when I was a young bride .That was many seasons and years ago. My children grew up listening to you and you treasured callers. It is with heavy hearts that we must say goodbye for now to you sweet friend.
Thank you for your kindness and knowledge that you shared so freely . Some of my fondest memories of you are when you talked about being in the garden as a boy and young man with your daddy.
Well now I would like to think you are back in that garden of God with him again. May God comfort your family and it will be a comfort for you to know that your son and family are continuing your legacy. Your program will continue and we the listeners are grateful to you and yours. Rest in peace with the Lord.
Sincerely,

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Parent family, Paul was such an informative man, and I loved listening to him every Sunday morning. August 20, 2018

I would listen to Paul when I could from long before he and his family moved back to Maine, and I greatly appreciated his warm and straightforward manner in dealing with his many callers and radio friends. He always knew so much, and he was always so kind (except with respect to weeds). And he so very clearly cared. And you had the benefit and the blessing of being together more than a couple of hours on scattered Sundays. My heart reaches out to you, and I know that you must be surrounded by constant reminders that I hope will bring you warm memories as time unfolds.

Hello I am so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. We live in West Hartford Ct and always listen (outside radio to his show while we are doing yard work>We have learned so much from Your Dad and love his stories about what his father told him: one in particular about cutting down the burning bushes to the ground and his mother got upset an the next year or so came up beautifully !! So I am so sorry: Prayers and thought are with you all.
Thank you for sharing your dad with us radio listeners He sounds like a wonderful husband and Father.
God Bless you all and I thank him for all his knowledge I have passed on to other people .
Take care: ps one more thing My Husband Rick had also called Paul one time on the lawn info and he answered the phone right away(it was not during radio hrs and My husband was really impressed that he answered the phone and gave him (and took his time explaining what my husband had asked him to the Max; ( What a guy)
So sorry again God Bless all of you. Keep doing what Your Dad has taught you.

August 19, 2018

Every Sunday morning for the past few years, I set my radio to wake up to Paul's show.It was a great way to start a Sunday morning. Many times I would just listen to him giving information to the callers as if he was reading from a script. When the radio came on this morning and Patrick said Paul had passed away on August 13, I was shocked. Ironically, one year ago, August 13, 2017, a business associate/old friend, passed away. He lived in Sanford, ME. I am also an alumni of UMass-Amherst, graduating in 1971(SBA), so there was that connection. Listening to the callers this morning and having listened to his interaction with them the past few years, he was a man of integrity and class. The example he set in the way he treated people and his professional relationships will be his legacy.

August 19, 2018

So sorry. What a wonderful man.

Dear Parent Family:

So sorry to hear of the loss of Paul. I always made sure I was up and about on Sunday mornings at 8:00 am to listen from Cape Cod.
My daughter surprised me with one of the Garden Journals he offered for sale and when she called the phone number, Paul himself picked up the phone and she was blown away at the personal contact he maintained with all of his listening audience!
Looking forward to Patrick continuing on his legacy!
Can't stop thinking of him and all of you!
