PETER J. ERCEG

1932 - 2014

ERCEG, Peter J. 81, of Marstons Mills, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Mass General Hospital in Boston following a short illness. Born November 18, 1932 in Alsen, NY he was the son of the late Daniel and Eva Vager Erceg. Peter graduated from Saugerties High School, Class of 1951 and the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce of the University of Pennsylvania Class of 1955, where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He also was a member of St. Georges Lodge, Croation Fraternal Union of America. Upon graduation, he served in the U.S. Army with the 10th Mountain Division doing duty in occupied Germany. Upon his honorable discharge he began his business career with Montgomery Ward, May Department Stores and finally the Howard Johnson Company, retiring in 1986 as Group Vice President and Controller of the Company. After retiring from corporate life, he did financial consulting and co-founded the Inn at the Mills in Marstons Mills, MA. which he operated for 15 years. Survivors include his Sister-in-Law, Ethel Myer Erceg of Saugerties and his nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and his great grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his seven brothers and two sisters, Mark, John, Anthony, Michael, Steven, Walter, Herbert, Mary Wolf and Catherine Daly. His Funeral Procession will form 10:30 AM Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. Of John & Lafayette Sts. In Saugerties, NY thence to St. Mary of the Snow RC Church where at 11:00AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered . Friends will be received Saturday 9:00 AM-10:30 AM at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home. A service of remembrance will be held on Cape Cod at a later date.
