Peter Saxton-Williams

PETER R. SAXTON-WILLIAMS, 64 GALENA - Peter R. Saxton-Williams, 64, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2014, at Forest Hill in Galena, Illinois. Peter is loved and remembered by his children, Elizabeth and Evan; mother, Audrey (Andrew) Cowan; sister, Wendy Stewart; and his beloved cat, Scooter. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Saxton-Williams. Peter was an Eagle Scout, a First Lieutenant in the US Army Reserves, and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity at Iowa State University. He raised his children in Freeport, where he belonged to Evergreen Lodge #170 (AF & AM). Peter later retired to Galena to pursue his love of the outdoors. Friends remember Peter's fondness for soccer, the Chicago Bears, military history, and traveling. As a proud Englishman, he especially enjoyed a glass of Teacher's scotch and The Rolling Stones. Peter was a loving father with a charitable heart, a constant smile, and a fun sense of humor. Thank you friends and family for helping to celebrate Pete's life. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Grace Episcopal Church in Freeport, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Salvation Army or Planned Parenthood of Des Moines, IA would be appreciated. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, IL is assisting the family.
