1939 - 2024

WALL, Peter F. Born on March 4, 1939 - "the most commanding day of the year." He was proud of being a "narrowback," which means both parents immigrated to the United States from Ireland. His mother, Annie Green, came from Port Arlington, County Offally; and his father, Peter, came from Ennis, County Clare. They met in Boston on a blind date. Peter graduated from Malden Catholic High School in 1957 and Providence College in 1961. Following graduation from PC, he spent 6 months of active duty in the U.S. Army and 8 years of reserve duty. In 1962, (thanks to a plate of dropped brownies) he married the love of his life, Mary Ann Moran, aka "Amazing Maisie." They lived in Framingham for 36 years. In 1970, they built a summer home in Harwich. He enjoyed boating, fishing and eventually golf. They expanded the house and retired to the Cape in 2000. They also hosted an annual July 4th beach party and cookout for the entire family. Peter spent most of his career in sales. He sold commercial roofing systems in New England and upstate New York. He served as a Director of the Northeast Roofing Contractors Association for 30 years. In 1993, he received their Clarence Carr Award for his contributions. He was also an active member of the Boston Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute. In retirement, he played golf at Cranberry Valley Golf Course. He was part of the CV Men's Golf Club and the Mid-Cape Men's Golf Club. He and Maisie played golf together on the weekends with many of the new friends they met in Harwich. Peter served on the Harwich Capital Outlay Committee for 12 years and on the Monomoy Regional High School Building Committee for 10 years. He also volunteered for the Family Pantry of Cape Cod and was an active member of Allen Harbor Yacht Club. He will be fondly remembered for his humor and outgoing spirit by his family and friends. He leaves a brother Joe and his wife Alice; brother-in-law Jim Moran and his wife Nancy; sister-in-law Karen Moran; brother-in law Rob Moran and his wife Susan; and sister-in-law Betsy Land and her husband Tom; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Anna Oda; his brother Stephen; his sister-in-law Jane Carroll; and his brother-in-law John Moran. He was Godfather to Tomothy Gleason, Brian Wall, Cyndi Bestany Carroll and Michael Sheehy. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19th, from 4-7 pm at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 678 Main St., HARWICH CENTER. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 20th, at 11 am, at St. Joan of Arc Church in Orleans. A private Burial will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Winchester.
