Of Cohasset, Jan. 16th, age 61. Husband of Blanche L. (Jones) Whitman. Father of Eric J. of Hull, Adam G. of Pembroke, Joel G. of Hanson, Joshua S. of Abington, Jason D. of Vero Beach, FL, Mark E. of Boston and Chad W. of Holbrook. Brother of Joan G. Sullivan of Virginia Beach, VA, Nancy L. Blutt of Melrose, Robert G. Whitman of Randolph, Susan G. Whitman of Weymouth, the late David G. Whitman and the late Richard G. Whitman. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Thursday, Jan. 20th at 11 AM at the Second Congregational Church, 43 Highland Ave., Cohasset. Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., HINGHAM, on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. Rather than flowers, donations in his memory would be preferred to The Autism Center of the South Shore, 210 Winter St., Weymouth, MA 02188 or to The Cotting School, 453 Concord Ave., Lexington, MA 02421. As most of the friends of the Whitman boys can attest, Pete was a very special, caring, and giving father. He was always there for his family and extended family. He lived his life to the fullest and in turn taught his boys and through them all their friends that we should live everyday to the fullest. He will be sorely missed and a hole has opened where a great man once stayed. God bless you P.W. Iam a better person to have known you!

Peter was the ultimate dad, actively involved in his sons lives and supporting them in their various endeavors. Even though he would be with people half his age, I considered him "one of the guys". He was always quick with advice, a story or a well timed joke. I often left Ledgewood Drive with pains in my side from laughing so hard. My condolences to Blanche and all of the boys, and their relatives. He will be missed.
