I didn't know, Barbara. I was always fond of and admired Phil and our many memories at Strong. I hope you are doing well.

Phi - After lapses between fall football games and other Dartmouth events, Phi was always eager to reconnect - question, learn, share - and then fashion it all in from reassuring, warm and light-hearted perspectives. Thank you for the prompt - painful but welcome - to spend a part of this day revisiting with Phi. Hugs to Barb.

It's 1:30 in the morning, and I'm up late, dealing with a little cardiac issue.
As I'm now 68 years old and entering that phase of life. But when I met Dr. Philip Wade, I was one of his very first patients, at Harvard community health plan. The reason I thought of him is, I was telling my wife "I wish I had a doctor, with whom I could speak, as I was able to speak with Dr. Wade, at Harvard Community Health plan back in the early 70's.
That really says something about a man, having been remembered this way, after so long.
And in this way, he lives on.
I'm sure there are many others, who still think of him, who you do not know.
I hope his family are doing well.
I remember on that first visit, both of us happened to be wearing the same white wooden clogs, which was unusual and quite a coincidence.
Thank you Dr. Wade.
If not for you, I'm not so sure I would be here today, to celebrate Father's Day tomorrow, with my family and our Grandchildren.

I only learned of Phil's passing as reported in the latest issue of the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine, now in August. As Phil's Dartmouth classmate (and fraternity bother) and continuing friend, I always anticipated encounters with Phil at various Dartmouth events and enjoyed news of his work, his family, his and Barb's activities, all shared with his lively wry humor. For reasons unbeknown, in recent years I hadn't seen Phil at these usual events; I missed Phi; I wondered, but never expected that we would not meet again. I am delighted that he and Barb created such a complete, fulfilled life for themselves as partners and for the family, friends and the communities they cared for. Warm wishes; continuing memories. Alan Brush told me last week about Phil's untimely death. We were both shocked.
Phil was a wonderful colleague from the early days at Harvard Community Health Plan until his relatively recent move to Hanover. And he was a model primary care clinician - always on time and up-to-date. We, his medical patners, were as enthusiastic about Phil and as grateful to him as his patients.
I feel privileged to have known Phil. He will be sorely missed.
To Barbara: This is always toughest on those who are left. I hope you and the family are doing ok. If there is anything I can do, let me know. [email protected]
