OHANIAN, Phyllis Jane (Brown) Age 101, of Newton, formerly of California and Westport, CT, September 10, 2014. Wife of the late John Ohanian. Mother of Donald Cary Freeman of Heath, John David Ohanian of Newton and Philip Andrew Ohanian of Bath, ME. Phyllis was a piano teacher, accompanist and church organist, most notably at the Saugatuck Congregational Church, Westport, CT. She later worked as a teacher and school librarian in the Westport Schools. She also wrote several books of children's songs, of which the best known is "God's Wonderful World" (1954). Plans for a memorial service are in progress.

I was a home health nurse for Phyllis when she lived in Sarasota and enjoyed being with her so much. She was always such and lady a played the piano beautifully. My condolences to her family. Shirley Zimmermann
