I only learned recently of Rafi's passing. I was very sad to hear of this. He was a really good guy and I am sad that he passed away so early. In my memory he will always be a young, smart, friendly, uplifting guy that made everyone smile. Please accept my deepest condolences.

I was saddened to see that Rafi had passed. He had touched me and all of my friends at Ramah. As a camper Rafi was who I and all of the other campers looked up to as a mensch. He lead an inspiring Havdalah and Friday night service every week. His powerful service leading was one of the reasons alot of kids came to camp and alot of parents sent their kids to camp.

Dear Joanne and Allan,
There are many comforting words written to offer to those who lose a parent. But, finding a combination of words that say something to ease the pain of having lost a child has eluded the greatest of writers. We offer you what we would offer if we were entering your home on a shiva call, a handshake, the warmth of a sharing hug, our tears and the sweetness of your understanding how much we care and share your pain.
In friendship and love,

Allan, Joanne, and Eli;

Joanne and Allan,
We are so very sorry to hear of your sudden and incomprehensible loss. When we first met Rafi when he was 5, he was already sweet, caring, funny, a real mensch. When so many other kids wanted nothing to do with our difficult son, Rafi stuck by him, a loyal friend. You must have been so proud of the fine young man he turned into. May his memory be for a blessing, and may you find comfort from the embrace of the many people whose lives and hearts Rafi touched.
All our love, Ellen Frankel and Herb Levine, Sarah and Les

Ramah is a big part of our kids lives and Rafi was a big part of Ramah. All 3 of our kid were touched by his kindness, and intellect. He will be missed. I hope knowing that brings a small measure of comfort at this very difficult time.

Joanne and Allan, our hearts are with you, trying to imagine how a mother and father get through this unspeakable grief. We know you are surrounded by enormous support from yours and Rafi's communities and trust that will provide some comfort. This terrible tragedy makes it difficult to say "baruch dayan ha'emet". We have heard what a lovely, sensitive, special young man Rafi was and we know he leaves gaping hole in the lives of the many he touched. Why his life was cut short is one of the mysteries to which there is no good answer.

Joanne and Allan and Eli,
So many of us in Gainesville are at a loss for words at Rafi's totally untimely death. I will always remember him and you, his deeply loving family, as a special family that touched the hearts of Gainesville. And Rafi... though he moved out of the Gainesville world in his young adulthood, I can easily attach my images of him as a child and adolescent to the man of faith and love that he became. My heart goes out to you and to his fiancee. Elizabeth joins me in sending our deepest condolences. Fondly, Cathy Owen
