To Mary and Louise and all of Rebecca's family, sincere condolences. Rebecca cheerfully helped me find the perfect gifts at for my own equestrienne granddaughters many times at Dover Saddlery. I have always loved the close relationship she had with her grandmother. My heart goes out to you all as you must struggle to make sense of this untimely loss.

As the breeder of Rebecca's horse, Spirit, I have followed Rebecca's equestrian career with great interest and enthusiasm. Indeed, since I have otherwise had so little to do with Rebecca's life, I could be judged unreasonably proud of her. A large, elaborately framed picture of Rebecca and Spirit -- both looking absolutely joyous -- sits on my desk overlooking the Virginia countryside. As I review the happy emails she sent about the adventures she and Spirit had together, I realize how enduring that joy was. I think about a life full of love, courage and adventure. Although, these are treasures Rebecca had in greater measure than many people who have lived longer lives, her passing at such a young age seems absolutely and shockingly unfair. My deepest condolences to the family and friends who knew and loved her.

I remember Becca patiently helping her sister show her pony over crossrails; skillfully competing her horse at the Steeplechase Course; cheerfully hunting through brilliant autumn and snowy early winter weather. What a poised, gracious, and kind young person -- and of course, a fantastic horsewoman. "Gone away"
