Dearl Schumann family, my condolences to all of you for the loss of Prof. Schumann. Unfortunately I took away too little learning from my days at BU, but the one class I do remember clearly was Dr. Schumann's Italian history class. I looked forward to it and learned a lot.

Dear Schumann Family and Friends,
I am sure I join many in hoping that in the days ahead you will find solace in the extraordinary life your father and teacher led. Having just lost my own father there at NEDA due to heart failure, my thoughts are with you.
Edie I hope we meet again.

Dear Mrs. Schumann,
Please accept my condolences for the loss of Reinhold. I remember him well from my first years at BU--all the tireless work he did to ensure that the Interdisciplinary Italian Studies program flourished. I recall too the day that the Italian government made him a cavaliere, in a beautiful ceremony at The Castle at BU. May he be of blessed memory

Dear Mrs. Schumann, Edi, Roger, Andrea and Adam,
Please accept my deepest condolences in the loss of Dr. Schumann. I was one of Jeannette's closest friends in Germany, maybe you will remember me. I am now back in Iowa, but I stay in touch with Kirsten and Juergen. It is extra hard that Kirsten can't join you this weekend. But please know that many of us all over the world are with you today. Our love and admiration for this wonderful man goes beyond life. He was a great man - to you as family, but to strangers and friends, too.
Take good care.
With my deepest sympathies,
Marguerite Miller
