Mr Allen was such a great teacher... some of us would never have made it through high school without his creative way of unlocking how we each learned. He had students of different ages and different needs in one classroom for one period and helped them all. RIP Mr Allen and thank you

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Allen´s passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. I graduated BHS in 1990 with the support of special educational services. I was blessed to have Mr. Allen as my special education teacher all 4 years of high school. He was kind, compassionate, smart, and a strong advocate for his students. I always felt he cared about me as a person, and I am confident that he, in part, helped propel me across the graduation stage. Years later, he was with me spiritually as I walked across another stage to receive my graduate degree in education. I have often thought about Mr. Allen during the past 24 years in my own 6th grade classroom. His calmness in the craziness of the classroom and his ability to meet his students where they were at academically, emotionally, and socially, are traits that I still try to emulate in the classroom. God speed and I hope you get some well deserved rest. You have earned it all.

Rich and our early 766 Sped Team worked together in Methuen for a few years. Rich sold us our house in Medford and we were next door neighbors for a few years until he, Nancy and Seth moved to Belmont. We are saddened to hear of his passing from dementia. It is not the end one wishes for anyone, especially a bright and caring person. Our best wishes to Nancy and family.
