Very saddened to hear this. I knew Dick for years; he taught for a long time at Curry College. Great guy, kind man, liked him a lot. My deepest condolences to Dick's family.

One of Mr Cotters Omega students, I am happy to share that he was a positive roll model at NHS. We called him Robo Cop because he stood for justice. He looked out for all of us and provided a chance to do better. I´m grateful for his kindness and encouragement in my life. He will be missed. My condolences to the Cotter family.

I'm very sorry to hear of Dick's passing. He was a colleague at Millis High School many years ago.

Dr. Cotter was my mentor as a teacher and continued to be my mentor and friend as we would speak twice per year. Even in retirement he still took the time to be my mentor. I am forever grateful to him for having helped me in so many ways. He would take full command of a classroom and keep every student fully engaged with a simple piece of chalk and his formidable knowledge and presence. He was a special person and I was honored to have known him.

From our life guard days at Dug Pond in 1968 to all the times our paths crossed, Dick was such a great guy. May he find true peace.

Oh the fear I felt as a first year teacher sharing a classroom with Dick. Clapton poster in perfect position, brain model on the desk, each desk in exact row because Dr Cotter had taken the time to use permanent markers and make tiny circles where each leg of the desk should return to if ever dared to be moved. Then those final minutes of class... Dick occasionally peeking his head into the tiny window of the door to see what´s going on. Me screaming at my freshman `this place better look good for Dr Cotter!!!´
Dick you are now and forever shall be a LEGEND to any student teacher administrator custodian nurse coach parent you helped out in their journey of life.
`The teenage brain craves consistency´ is something I take with me every time I teach. That and promptly leaving whenever possible ;) I just don´t drive as cool a car as Dick. Condolences to the many many that loved him.
