Richard HAM Obituary

HAM, Richard Warren Jr. On January 24, 2023, Richard Warren Ham Jr. of Woburn, formerly of Lexington, passed away peacefully at his home after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Rich was born on July 25, 1954, to Richard and Mildred Ham of Waltham and the family later moved to Lexington where Rich grew up. Rich was a 1972 graduate of Lexington High School, he earned a Bachelor's from Northeastern University and a Master's from Anna Maria College with degrees in Criminal Justice.

He faithfully served the Town of Lexington as a Police Officer for 32 years, retiring as a Lieutenant in 2003. After retiring, Rich pursued a second career working for State Street Bank in Executive Protection for 10 years.

Rich was a loving husband to his wife, Gayle for 38 years. They enjoyed many family adventures in Disney and Aruba and made many memories with their family and friends in York and Shapleigh, ME. Rich was the proud father of two sons who followed in his law enforcement footsteps. Richard, III and his wife, Lauren of Woburn, and Brian and his wife, Sarah, also of Woburn.

Rich leaves his sister, Cindy Gelinas and her husband, Ray of Woburn; his brother, Dana and his wife, Maryanne of Georgetown, many dear relatives in Gayle's hometown of Brooklyn, OH; as well as, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Rich's greatest role was "Gaga" to his beautiful grandchildren. Richard, IV, Emma, Brian, Jr., and Kendall.

Rich's strength was kindness and a sense of humor, he will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his loving family and friends.

Calling Hours will be held Friday, January 27, at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd., LEXINGTON, from 4pm to 7pm. Memorial Service Saturday, January 28, at the First Lutheran Church, Rt. 20 (corner of Weston St. and Eddy St.) in Waltham at 11am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staton Island, NY 10306 (www.t2t.org) and Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS), P.O.
