ROBERT CIPRIANI Obituary

CIPRIANI, Robert Of Wellesley, MA , died on January 17, 2014 at the age of 75 after a courageous battle with ALS. He was beloved husband of Kathleen Greer, father of Timothy Cipriani and his wife Holly, and Karen Cipriani Skiba and her husband, Robert Skiba and stepfather of John Napoleone and his wife Carey. He leaves six grandchildren, Jack Napoleone, Michael Napoleone, Ben Skiba, Maxwell Skiba, Amelia Skiba, and Spencer Cipriani and is survived by a large extended family including his former wife, Lita Cipriani Boyle, two nieces, Sara and Sophia Penchansky, and two grandnephews, Luke and Sam Williams, his brother, John Cipriani and many dear friends and extended family in Mansfield. Bob was raised in Mansfield, MA where he was the son of Augusto Cipriani and Helen Capek Cipriani. He was the oldest of 29 first cousins and the first in his family to go to college. He graduated from Rhode Island School of Design where he studied to be a graphic designer. Over a long career as an art director and creative director, he won over 800 local and national awards for his design and corporate identity programs. He worked at Gunn Associates before starting Cipriani Advertising and Cipriani Kremer Design, which was later acquired by Arnold Worldwide. After retiring from Arnold, Bob began a second successful career in fine art painting where he earned number of awards in shows. His work is currently displayed in the J. Todd Gallery of Wellesley and Chatham, and LAttitude Gallery of Boston. His website at www.robertcipriani.com shows a vast range of his painting and corporate identity programs. Bob had a unique way of viewing the world and inspired many with his creativity. He was a fan of Frank Sinatra and was frequently quoting the Godfather. He taught those around him to color outside of the lines, and push the limits of their thinking. Arrangements are made by George F. Doherty and Sons Funeral Home of WELLESLEY. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bobs life on January 26, 2014, 3:00p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Area Church, 11 Washington Street, Sherborn, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made "in memory of Bob Cipriani" to the Unitarian Universalist Area Church at First Parish, P.O. Box 158, Sherborn, MA 01770 or the Compassionate Care ALS, P.O. I just did the ALS ice bucket challenge in honor of your dad. I just went online and googled Bob and was saddened to find he had passed last January. I may have been the last person that consigned him to paint a beautiful picture which now is hanging over my mantle. Even though I only knew him briefly I felt I had known him for a while. He was such a kind, warm gentleman. My prayers go out to you and your family

The warmth of his art was equal to the warmth of his friendship.
I will miss both forever!

Dear Kathy and family,

Chip is that rare kind of man who makes another's life 'better', simply by being a part of it.

No doubt, he will continue to do so.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I'm so deeply sad about this loss of a great artist and friend. My heart is heavy for you, Kathy. What a wonderful experience knowing Chip all of these years and now getting to look at his beautiful art throughout my home, where he lives on. Rest in peace and in knowing how many of us will miss you, my friend.

I was very sorry to hear about Chip. This brought back old memories to the time when I first meet Chip at Honeywell Corporation (as he was chewing on cigar) in Waltham, MA. This started a long time friendship and business relationship of over 30 years. I can tell you from experience Chip was always pushing design button ………
