Robert Huse Obituary

HUSE, Robert C. Died at his home in Chestnut Hill on February 16th from complications of post polio syndrome. He was born in Lowell, MA. on October 13, 1925, the son of Bertha (Chapman) and Earl L. Huse. He was retired from a successful career in radio as disk jockey and station manager in New England and the New York area, most notably at WCTC in New Brunswick, NJ, following in the footsteps of his mother who was prominent in local radio and as hostess of the television program "Swan Boat" on WBZ (channel 4) in Boston. Mr. Huse focused on Big Band Music in his radio programs and interviewed many famous musicians, including Tommy Dorsey, Stan Kenton, Tex Beneke, and Jean Krupa. In 2002 Mr. Huse finished an autobiography, "Getting There," which chronicled his growing up with polio. He was also an avid movie fan and Scrabble player. He is survived by a large family whose lives he enriched immeasurably. We loved and admired him and will miss him sorely: Margarete Arndt, Robert C. Huse,Jr., Deborah (Huse) and Ron Campbell, Heidi (Huse) and Kenneth Perham, Daniel Huse, Martina Arndt and Robert Havasy, as well as Melanie, Dustine, Nathan and Annie, Samantha and Tim, Whitney, and Hayley Mae. Mr. Huse is also survived by his sister Priscilla Anthony and her husband John of Pittsfield, MA, his sister Dorothy Blanchard and her husband Jack of Braintree, MA, and his childhood friend John Sullivan of Wellesley, MA. Final good-byes may be said at the Eaton and Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St., Newton on Wednesday, February 18th from 4-6 pm. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the hospice program of the VNA Care Network, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608. Eaton and Mackay 617-244-2034
