Robert Jenney Obituary

70 of North Reading, passed away Sunday August 12th after a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family. Bob is preceded in death by his mother Margaret Hubbard, Father Herman Hubbard and Sister Karen Kendig. Bob was born in Reading MA. He attended North Reading Public Schools and graduated from Reading Memorial High School in 1955. He was a life long resident of North Reading. After graduation, Bob served in the Navy as an Airborne Radio Controller. He went on to graduate from Northeastern University in the field of Electrical Engineering. As an electrical engineer specializing in magnetics, Bob taught domestically and abroad contributing to development of particle research. He was honored by Chang Mai University for his contributions to Thailand. Bob was also noted for his contributory work in the development of particle accelerators where he worked closely with Dr. Robert Van de Graaff. He was a devoted husband, impassioned father, and stunning in his attentiveness as a grandfather. He loved all things mechanical and had many hobbies including camping, boating, and model aircraft. Bob was an energetic member of Trinity Evangelical Church in North Reading. Under Mens Ministry, he was a mens group leader. He was respected by, and truly loved, each member. Married for 46 years, he was the dearly loved husband of Joyce A. (Cheney) Jenney, formerly of Saugus MA. Loved by his daughter; Deborah (Jenney) Marshall, son in-law; Raymond Marshall, and two grand children; Brittany Joy and Hailey Grace Marshall of Reading, son; Robert K. Jenney II and daughter in-law; Kathryn F. Kavanagh of Wellesley. Bob is also survived by brothers; David Jenney of Melrose and Steven Hubbard and wife Linda Mitchell of North Reading, sisters; Dorothy Gallagher and husband Christopher or Brentwood NH, and Rachel Hubbard of Philadelphia, PA, as well as many nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received at Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow St., NORTH READING, MA on Wednesday, August 15th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Services will be held at Trinity Evangelical Church, 105 Haverhill Street North Reading, MA on Thursday, August 16th at 11:00 AM. All are welcome. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in North Reading. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in honor of Bob be made to the Pan Mass Challenge. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Bob was a great guy and will be missed. His battle with cancer was long and hard. We know the battle is over and the victory is won. He is with His Lord. We pray that you will know each day that the Lord will never leave you nor forsake you. He is faithful.
