ROBERT A. KIRK

KIRK, Robert A. Of Weymouth and Yarmouth, formerly of South Boston, age 87, entered into eternal life on September 4, 2012. Bob was born and raised in South Boston and was a resident of Weymouth and South Yarmouth for many years. He served honorably and well in the US Army Air Forces in WWII. In 1955, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University. Mr. Kirk had a long successful career at Avco Research Laboratory in Everett and retired in 1985. Prior to that, he worked for Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York. During the 1960's Bob designed and constructed a summer home on Cape Cod. In addition to honing his sharp intellect and mechanical skills, Bob was also an artist and musician. He kept physically fit by swimming and playing tennis into his eighties. He was the beloved husband of the late Jeanne M. (Jakutis) Kirk. Devoted father of Roberta Purcell of Providence, R.I., Lorraine Kirk of Centerville, Richard Kirk of Port Jefferson, N.Y., and Dorothy Kingsbury of Brewster. Beloved brother of the late Reverend John Kerdiejus, S.J.. Loving grandfather of Michael, Kristin, and Brian Purcell, and Adam and Jillian Kirk. Memorial Mass on Friday, September 7 in Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville at 11:30 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
