ROBERT MAHONEY Obituary

MAHONEY, Robert "Bob" Formerly of Wellesley, MA, died on April 6, 2016 at the age of 70 after a courageous 10 year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his children, Peter (Hillary), David (Rachel) and Katherine Mahoney, his stepchildren, David (Rhodie) and Christian (Elizabeth) Lorenz, Diana (Ryan) Byrne and eight grandchildren who loved him dearly. He also leaves his sisters, Kitty (Frank) Lilly and Shawn (Michael) Kuba and his brother, Joe Mahoney. Bob was a member of the litigation department at Wilmer Hale (formerly Hale and Dorr) for 35 years, retiring as senior partner in 2007. During his retirement, he continued this community involvement in a more personal way, volunteering as tutor at Epiphany and football coach at Weston High School. Despite his later challenges, Bob continued to participate in the annual 100 mile ride for Alzheimer's. A memorial service is scheduled on April 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Needham. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to Epiphany School, Family Aid Boston, or the Alzheimer's Association, Mass/NH Chapter.

I will always remember Bob from our days at HC. He was an all around good guy and treated everyone well. Knowing Bob then, and having crossed paths with him a few times since, I know he continued to be the "good guy" that he was then and his obituary shows him to be. I offer my sincere condolences to his family and friends who knew him better than I did. He will be sincerely missed.

This is so very sad. Condolences to Bob's family and loved ones. Bob and I played together at HC. He was fast, strong and smart. We then went to Villanova Law School together and served on the Law Review. In my role as one of the Law Review Editors,I had the pleasure of editing a thoughtful and well researched article authored by Bob that was published in the Law Review. He went on to clerk for a US federal judge in Boston and I went to Vermont to do the same so our paths then parted but a few years later we got the chance to be on opposite sides of a case. He represented his client with the skill and grace that all who knew him would expect. His journey has now ended. Rest in peace, Bob

I have always liked being around someone who is good at what they do. Bob served as an example for me that a person can be good at all that he does.

Bob Mahoney was one of the most competitive individuals I have ever known. His work ethic and desire to succeed made those around him better players. My memories of HC football will always include "Church". My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

The Almighty above introduced me to Bob in the summer of 2010 in Ocean City, Maryland. I was on a long bike ride with friends and Bob was alone and joined the group. That day changed me forever. I met this kind man with this beautiful smile and knew he was very special. We became dear friends and he will forever live in my heart. Rest in peace Bob. There is no one that deserves the fruits of heaven more than you.

Dear Dorothy and family, some things I will remember about Bob the camaraderie he had with his contemporaries; his sense of humor; that big smile! It was a pleasure to work with him. I will always remember him with great fondness. Sincerely, Mary
