Bob was a terrific, confident pitcher for the BC Eagles from 1959 thru '61 leading the team to New England Championships and the NCAA College World Series in Omaha in 1960 and 1961.
His knuckle ball was unhittable. Many times he did the unpredictable by leaving the mound, walking up to an opposing hitter in the batters box and promising/threatening him with a coming knuckleball. Then going back to the mound, showing the hitter the knuckleball grip and then throwing the hitter a blazing fastball.
Coach Pellegrini loved Bob's competitive spirit and so did I.
His team mate and dear friend.....I will miss him.
My condolences to Allie and the Niemeic family.
