REMEIKA, Robert J. (Bob) Of Reading, MA, formerly of Arlington and Cambridge, July 15, 2016. Forever grateful husband of Susan for 38 years. Devoted and proud father of Matthew; father-in-law of Xana Locke, and honored "PA" to his precious Grace Noël Remeika. Beloved son of the late Anna (Costa) Remeika. Brother of Carol/husband Leon of Texas, Brother Dan/wife Jeannette of Marlboro, Joanne, Linda and Paul. Brother in law of Stephen, Michelle/John and Denise. Bob loved all his nieces and nephews as his own; Daniel Jr., Ricky, Kim, Craig, Chivonne, Colleen, Shaun, Chris, Paul Michael, Gina, John, Chris, Elisa, Melissa, Amy Jean, Katie, Colleen and Terry, and his many great nieces and nephews. Brother of Mike and son of the late Joseph. Bob worked at the former Youville Hospital in Cambridge for 21 years, then at various non-profits in the Boston area helping unemployed people return to work. Bob was also choir director and pianist at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Cambridge, a ministry he loved. Funeral procession from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq) SOMERVILLE, Wednesday morning at 9am, followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Cambridge, at 10am. Relatives and friends invited. Calling hours Tuesday 4-8pm. Interment private. To The Remeika Family,

Whenever Nancy and I were with Bob, we always knew we would be laughing at a pun or past remembrance of learning how to "water our soil". He was a fighter to the very end, and his family was everything to him.
He leaves an emptiness in all or of our hearts.
Nancy and I will be there with you Susan, MAtthew, Xana and Grace-- always willing to share the good times of a person we so deeply loved. We will also be there to shed tears together. Thank you all for being part of our lives and for sharing Bob with us.

Susan, my sincerest condolences on the loss of Bob. I didn't get too much of a chance to get to know him, here at Operation A.B.L.E. however, on the brief occasions I found him funny, and honest, a delight to meet.

I will say prayers for you and your family during this challenging time. Life continues despite the loss of a loved one. A new normal emerges, but the memories carry us for a lifetime.

My deepest sympathies to Susan, Matthew and the entire family. Bob hired me and took a chance with me at Boston Career Link where he mentored me my entire time their and continued to mentor and give advice over the years. I truly believe that Bob was key in making me the person i have become and why I am where I am today. He is a truly great man and will be deeply missed.

Robert, in the short time I knew you, you were always upbeat, professional and thoughtful. I took a liking to you right away. I enjoyed our visit with you and was happy to see your garden and to see you smile. I was happy to meet your family including your little granddaughter who I am sure provided you with much joy with her presence and love. Thank you, Susan for the lovely lunch you prepared for us that Sunday in May. I met Bob back in the days of St. Jerome's in Arlington, where he led a small but dedicated music group on his guitar. I was exploring a return to the church and was accepted into the group with great warmth and love. He was a true friend to the last! My heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends! Bob was one of my best friends. He was a remarkable person--devoted husband, father and grandfather. I am fortunate to have had him as a friend ever since we began working together in 1980 at Youville Hospital. I truly loved him and his family. Bob, you will be missed by so many.
