ROBERT WALLS Obituary

Walls, Robert Thomas (Bob) Passed away peacefully on March 5th at the age of 85. He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-two years, Carol. His spirit and love of laughter is carried on by his six children, his fifteen grandchildren, his four great grandchildren and his many friends. Bob, a native of Rockland, Massachusetts, was a graduate of Rockland High School ('47), Portsmouth Priory ('48) and Georgetown University ('52), where he proudly represented the Hoyas as captain of the baseball team. After serving as a Lieutenant in the Marines Bob followed his father into the shoe business working first for E.T. Wright then Sebago, where he stayed until his retirement at age of 70. Bob and Carol were 32-year residents of Cohasset, Massachusetts where Bob announced games as the "voice of the Skippers" and was a member of the Cohasset Golf Club. After retiring Bob and Carol enjoyed escaping the cold down in Fort Myers, Florida where they spent their days in the company of lifelong friends playing golf and tennis. Bob's greatest joy was spending summers at Green Harbor in Marshfield, Massachusetts, the same beach where he met Carol, surrounded by the family they had grown together. For his grandchildren there was nothing better than spending days at the beach laughing with Grampy. Whether he was playing cribbage, watching the Red Sox, telling stories at Thanksgiving or attending a grandkid's sporting event or graduation the best seat in the house was always next to Bob Walls. His sense of humor and love for life was magnetic and those drawn to him always stayed close. He is survived by his children, with whom he loved to share laughter and stories: Robert T. (Joanna) Walls, Jr. of Grapevine, TX, Colleen (Stephen) Hines of Rowayton, CT, Michael (Tricia) Walls of Scituate, MA, Jeffrey (Stacey) Walls of Braintree, MA, Tish (Mario) Vivado of Marshfield, MA, and Nancy (Steve) Carell, of Los Angeles, CA. A memorial celebrating Bob's life will be held this summer at St. Anthony's Parish in Cohasset, MA.

Had many laughs with Robert especially on the golf course he would hit a ball maybe 50 yards forward and say wow another 250 yard shot 100 yards up a 100 yards down and 50 forward. He always had a laugh for us while golfing. With the new rule that you can putt with the flag in the hole, if we had that rule back when Bob was playing he would have save many steps. He would take the flag on occasion and walk to the golf cart with it. Bob you are missed your name is mentioned many times here in Lexington Rest in peace my friend, Chip
PS I Just read I said about the same thing 5 years ago Bottom line Bob is in our heart and memories

To the Walls Family... One of the unfortunate things about living far away is you don't hear the important news... I am just now learning of the passing of your husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather... My heart is broken for y'all. He was an amazing man who was devoted to his family and who always had a smile on his face... You are all in my thoughts & prayers... With Love...

I met Bob at the Lex. and played many rounds of golf with him on Tues. and Fridays. Lots of fun and laughs when I played with Bob. His favorite line to me was "this next shot plays right into my strength" I will miss him. Rest in peace Bob.

Asked to "add a memory"! Bob created more memories for more people than anyone I ever met. To Bob EVERYONE was relevant and all were drawn in by his humorous "look at life"! He made memories for many. I first met him in the spring of 1943. And 72 YEARS has a bundle of memories in it. If anyone could choose a brother, he would be 'related' to many. I will miss you "Little Brother".

Great guy all around. I will always remember him with my grandmother laughing about one thing or another. He also gave one of the best euologies at her funeral that I've heard. He will be missed.
