WILMAN, Robert "Pops" Of Dillingham Way, Hanover MA passed away at home on November 1, 2010 after a brief illness. He was born November 4, 1919 in Lawrence MA to Florence and Thomas Wilman along with his sisters, Helen Hammond and Gertrude Smith. Bob was a Veteran of WWII, having served in the United States Coast Guard for four years, where he attained the status of Pharmacist Mate Second Class. Bob's education included graduating from the New England College of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy, as well as an Optician Degree from the Fenway School of Mechanical Optics. While serving in the United States Coast Guard, Bob met and married the "love of his life", the late Frances D. (Walsh) Wilman. He is survived by Robert and Mary Wilman of Jacksonville NC; Paula Wilman of Port Charlotte FL; Thomas and Lou Ann Wilman of Hanover MA; Barbara and George Mark Barrett of Rockland MA, Nancy Wilman of New Bedford MA; Steven and Elizabeth Wilman of Weymouth MA; and sister, Gertrude "Mickey" Smith of Hampton VA. Bob was the proud grandparent of 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. His activities at St. Margaret's Hospital for Women, where he worked for 27 years as the Director of Pharmacy, won him the warmth and affection of his supervisors and fellow employees. Bob's community spirit was evidence by his involvement on the Corporate Board of Directors of the Neponset Health Center. His dedication to his profession was exhibited by his memberships in the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, the New England Council of Hospital Pharmacists, and as past President of the Massachusetts Society of Hospital Pharmacists. Bob became a member of the Knights of Columbus (K of C) Dorchester Lower Mills Council 180 in 1950. His loyal service and devoted duty led him to the top ranks of the K of C, where he served as a Grand Knight and ultimately as a District Deputy. His strong belief in the message and service of the Knights solidified the moral foundation which he lived by and led to the cultivation of lifelong friendships for him and Fran. Bob was a man of great faith. He continued his service to God for many years as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church in Hanover. He assisted the Parish priest with funeral services whenever he was needed. His volunteering also extended to St. Helen's Church in Norwell and to the San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte FL when there on vacation. Bob was the center of many people's lives but never of his own. His selfless nature ensured his loved ones that he would always be a never-ending source of kindness and generosity. Bob carried himself as a perfect gentleman, never allowing a door not held, a chair not pulled, a sneeze not blessed or a thank you not given. He has etched his name in the hearts of his family and friends; and although he will be remembered as "Pops" to some and "Bumpa" to others, the same great man stands in our memories. Bob now rests having lived a life of continuous accomplishment and achievement. He considered his life a blessing and spent his time on earth returning that which God gave him by being a devoted husband, a loving father, a caring grandfather and a friend to all he met.
