ROBERTA "BOBBIE" TUNNARD

1950 - 2022

TUNNARD, Roberta "Bobbie" Roberta Babbitt Tunnard, of South Boston, MA, died at home on April 12, 2022, of pancreatic cancer. The daughter of the late Frederick and Shirley (Michelman) Babbitt, she was born February 14, 1950 in Worcester, MA. She attended Doherty Memorial High School in Worcester and graduated from Radcliffe College in 1972. She worked for some years in the travel industry as an agent at Esplanade Travel, based in the Back Bay. She and her family lived for several years in Brussels and London before returning to the Boston area, settling first in Newton and later in Fort Point. A lover of art and crafts, in 2005 she founded Vessels Gallery in Boston's South End. She was known for her beautiful and discerning taste in all things. She was a devoted wife and mother and a warm, faithful, generous friend. She leaves her beloved husband, Christopher "Rusty;" son Andrew and daughter-in-law Juliette of Brooklyn, NY; daughter Frederica "Freddie" of South Boston; and sister Debra Babbitt of West Roxbury. Donations should be made to the two causes that meant the most to her – the International Rescue Committee (www.rescue.org) or any organization in support of emerging artists.
