Rocco BUMBACA Obituary

BUMBACA, Rocco D. Of Lexington, formerly of Jamaica Plain, January 2, 2023. Beloved son of the late Rocco V. Bumbaca and Elizabeth (Simari) Bumbaca. Devoted brother of the late Virginia Albanese, Joseph Bumbaca and his surviving wife, Carmela of Bedford, Carmela Kinsman, Anthony Bumbaca, and Teresa Smith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Rocco lived independently for some time in Bedford, MA, before moving into a group home in Lexington where he leaves behind his loving JRI family. Rocco worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital for 33 years. He was well-traveled, having gone to Florida, Hawaii, Ireland, and Italy and was well versed in traveling throughout Boston. Rocco's independence was recognized by the Department of Developmental Services for "Leading an Independent life." He was very social and his most favorite thing was to be surrounded by friends and family. His humor and gentle soul will be missed by all who knew and met him. Rocco's unconditional love was unparalleled and we are all better people for having known him. He will be sorely missed.

Funeral from the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd., LEXINGTON, Saturday, January 7, at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Brigid Church, Lexington, at 10am. Visiting Hours Friday from 4pm to 7pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Donations in his memory may be made to The Special Olympics or to the Alzheimer's Association. Interment at St. Michael Cemetery in Roslindale. Douglass/Customer logo

My deepest condolences to the family of Rocco. I worked with Rocco for a number of years at NuPath, we would go for a morning walk & chat together almost every day, we would enjoy chats in my office, the occasional Italian song and many laughs together. Rocco will always hold a special place in my heart.

So sorry to hear about Uncle Rocco. My Mom Teresa always talked so fondly about her brother Rocco. It was always a pleasure to say hello and chat with Rocco at family gatherings. We will always remember Rocco as being such a friendly and warm person, who was also quite a charmer! Rocco was such an inspiration to so many and he was well loved. No doubt, Rocco will be missed by all, but we can take comfort in knowing that Rocco is now reunited with all his loved ones who went before him. God has truly gained another Angel. Rest in peace dear uncle Rocco.
