ROGER SCOVILLE Obituary

SCOVILLE, Roger Dean Age 82 of South Dartmouth, Massachusetts and Vero Beach, Florida, passed away on November 24th, while on a cruise. Born on August 27,1942, to the late Merritt E. and Doris M. Scoville, Roger grew up in Glens Falls, New York, and graduated from the University of Vermont. In 1971, he married Krista Clausen. His business career started at Bank of Boston. In 1988, he co-founded Seaward Management, an asset management firm. For the next 30 years he helped grow the firm as Senior Managing Partner. In his retirement, he split his time between Nonquitt (South Dartmouth) and Vero Beach. An active member of many civic and not-for-profit organizations, he served on numerous boards including: Thompson Island Outward Bound, the Appalachian Mountain Club (where he was Treasurer), the New England Conservatory of Music (where he was Treasurer), Newton Wellesley Hospital Corp. (where he was Chairman), the Cleveland Clinic Foundation of Vero Beach and the Nonquitt Executive Committee (where he was President). Roger was a director at Eastern Bank Corp. and President of the Boston Economic Club. A man of passion and dedication, Roger lived life to its fullest, evident in his commitments to his business, his community, his outdoor adventures and, most of all, his family. He enjoyed sports, especially skiing, golf, canoeing, and nobody was better at telling jokes. Most importantly, his legacy of love, service, and adventure will live on in the hearts of his family, his friends, and all who came to know him. He is survived by Krista, his wife of fifty-three years; two daughters, Dana (husband Jamie Pease) and Julie Barber; a son, Peter (wife Kelly), as well as five grandchildren: Reid and Lucie Pease, Emily and Soren Scoville, and Opal Barber. A Celebration of his Life will be held this summer in South Dartmouth, MA. Details will be shared close to the date.

Kristen, I stayed with you and Roger during one of our curling visits to Boston. I remember Roger with great fondness and enjoyed the brief time that we spent together. His compassion equalled his sharp wit. I cherish the time that we spent together. Andy Shatilla, The Royal Montreal Curling Club.
