RUTH MCGLATHERY

1931 - 2024

McGLATHERY, Ruth (Armstrong) Ruth passed away on December 24, 2024. She was born in Newton, MA, to George and Ruth Armstrong. She was 93. Ruthie was predeceased by her sister, Joan, both of whom grew up in their Auburndale home and continued to live there in their later years. She spent over 75 years summering on her beloved Nantucket Island, where her father purchased a summer house in 1944. She is survived by her sons, Doug McGlathery of Reading, MA and his wife, Kathy, Gordon McGlathery of Manchester, UK and his wife, Sue and her daughter, Karen McGlathery of Charlottesville, VA and her husband, Peter Berg; her six grandchildren, Lisa Ashdown, Sarah McCarthy, Andrew McGlathery, Michael McGlathery, Julia Berg and Katrine Berg; and her three great-grandchildren, Nathan Ashdown, Lucas McCarthy and Louise McGlathery. A Celebration of Life gathering for Ruthie will be held at The Allen Center for the Arts, in West Newton, Massachusetts, on January 25, 2025, at 11am.
