Ruth Shaw Obituary

SHAW, Ruth M. (Desmond) Of Quincy, died on August 14, 2011 surrounded by the family she cherished. The beloved wife of the late James F. Shaw. Devoted mother of James Shaw and his wife Christine of Milton, Maureen Dempsey and her husband James, Kevin Shaw and his late wife Jane, Patricia Bacon and her husband Gary all of Quincy, Robert Shaw and his wife Janet of Weymouth, Ellen Mulvey and her husband Martin of Quincy, Donna Robinson and her husband Mark of Milton and Kathleen Maloney and her husband John of Norwell. Ruth was the identical twin to the late Mary Desmond and sister of the late Adrian "Gibby" Desmond and George & William Desmond. Cherished Nana of Jay & Justin Shaw, Kara Lutner and Michael Dempsey, Kevin, Jill, Jackie & Janine Shaw, Robert, Neal, Brian & Catherine Shaw, Kelly Shaw and Paul Mulvey, Kristin, Nicole, Sarah & Jessica Robinson, Matthew and Erin Maloney. Great Grandmother of Corey Shaw, Paul Clancy, Michael Shaw and twins Violet & Sophie Shaw. Ruth was a longtime resident of Quincy. She enjoyed all types of music. The essence of her life was her family. She took great pride in her role as a devoted mother. She raised her children with strong family values and made sure that their childhood was rich with family traditions. This was the foundation for all that was truly important to her, her family. Ruth will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to have known her. The Shaw family would like to thank all of the wonderful people who took great care of Ruth over the past few years, your kindness is greatly appreciated. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday at 9:15 am in the funeral home prior to the Funeral Mass Thursday at 10 AM in St. Ann's Church, Quincy. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ruth may be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association www.lbda.org. See www.Keohane.com or call 1-800-Keohane for directions and online condolences.
