CARTWRIGHT, Scott Of Holbrook, formerly of Randolph, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on July 13, 2022, at the age of 66 after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Beloved and devoted husband to his wife and love of his life, Kathleen "Kathy" (Howlett) Cartwright. Loving father of Lauren R. Buoniconti and her husband, Brian of Randolph, Scott F. Cartwright and his longtime companion, Vasillis Ioannou of Boston, Emily Cartwright Ph.D. and her husband, Ryan Martinez, MD, Ph.D. of Minneapolis. Brother of Walter R. Cartwright, Jr. and his wife, Ruth of Boynton Beach, and Brad J. Cartwright and his wife, Maryellen of Braintree. Dear "Papa" of Zoe and Owen Buoniconti, both of Randolph, and Jonas Martinez of Minneapolis. Loving uncle of Walter R. Cartwright, III, Patrick McNamara, Christopher McNamara, Andrew Howlett, Julianna Howlett, Emma Howlett, Ryan DiCenzo, Danielle DiCenzo, Erin DiCenzo, Addison Cartwright, Kristina Cartwright; and grandnephew, Walter R. Cartwright, IV.
Scott was born in Brockton and lived in Holbrook where he grew up and graduated from Holbrook High School in 1974. After high school, he became a licensed funeral director and embalmer. For over 40 years, he and his brother, Brad, were partners and co-owners of Cartwright Funeral Homes of Randolph and Holbrook and Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home of Braintree. He was a past President of the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association. He was Chairman of the Board of Turner Free Library in Randolph for over 20 years. He was a past president of Kiwanis Club in Braintree. He met his wife in 1980 and the two were married on August 28, 1982. Scott and Kathy would have celebrated 40 years of marriage this August. He was the former Varsity golf coach for the Ursuline Academy girls golf team for over 10 years in Dedham where his two daughters attended high school. He enjoyed spending quality time with his son on many camping trips with the Boy Scouts. He held a pilot's license for several years, which he used to bring friends and family on exciting adventures. He was an avid golfer and honorary member of Wollaston Golf Club, Milton. He loved spending time in West Falmouth with his family golfing, fishing, kayaking or simply just relaxing on the deck playing cards. Scott will be fondly remembered for his generosity, sense of humor, and loving spirit.
In keeping with the Covid-19 guidelines, which include face coverings, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Visitation period on Friday, July 15, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree. A Funeral Mass will take place Saturday at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Braintree followed by burial in Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree.
