The Ultimate Gift is just that. I just saw the movie. Thank you. I was 7 when my dad died. My older siblings went to school & younger baby brother was cared for at a neighbors. Mom worked. I spent nearly 2 years as my dad´s caregiver. I assisted him all day. I took the bucket from his bedside to the bathtub. His tumor burst in his intestines. I was near him in the hospital with my siblings and dad´s siblings... until Jesus & the Angels took him to heaven. It was January of 1961.
I believe God gives us comfort just when we need it. May Scott C Fithian´s family find peace in knowing- Scott´s story has touched me & Im sure countless others. I thank God for being a tiny part of such a great life, even though Scott & Dad are gone. Their stories touch hearts like mine. It´s nice to know my dad and Scott are in good company

I just watched The Ultimate Gift. I saw the tribute at the end of the movie and was compelled to look up information about Mr. Fithian. I would like to say thank you. This story is compelling and teaches about the importance of all aspects of life. As someone who came very close to dying, this is how I try to live each day. Mr. Fithian and family will now be among my daily prayers. And, while I do not know any of you, you will all be in my heart.

I was a resident of the sixth floor of Williamson when Scott lived there at UNH. So sorry to see that he was a victim of pancreatic cancer. Scott was a business major, so I just bumped into him occasionally. He seemed very outgoing and it was obvious he was crazy about Arlene. I'd see them together sometimes. Often I saw Scott, by himself wrapped in a bath towel seated on the bathroom floor, in the morning waiting for his turn in the shower of the men's room telling some one to hurry up : ) I think Scott drew a painting on the wall of the sixth floor staircase too. I didn't realize his brother was named Todd too. God seems to take the good ones too soon.

My wife lost her husband to cancer. I hope my wife, her adopted daughter Hannah (13), and my 4 grown children can see this amazing movie. If The Ultimate Gift is taken to heart it can do so much good. My oldest daughter is a little like Jason in the movie. May God bless and comfort you Arlene.

Scott was a speaker at MDRT in San Francisco. I was blown away and bought the book. Three weeks later my sponsoring company announced significant organizational changes including a 5 year agreement with the Legacy Companies. That sealed the deal for me. I was proud to join the Legacy Network. Scott and his colleagues have been the most significant influence on my professional life. He has helped me synchronize my business and personal beliefs. My clients notice the difference and they appreciate the impact it is having on their lives!
Thanks, Scott. You've run the race and earned your rest.

Scott was undoubtedly one of the most amazing persons that I have ever met. His passion for life and helping others was a wonder to watch and to experience.

The impact Scott has had on me and my family will last for the rest of our lives, and probably for generations to come. I really viewed Scott and his brother, Todd, as part of my family. I will definitely miss my friend but Scott will always be alive in my heart.

My deepest condolences to his family for their loss of such an incredible gift.

May God bless you and give you strength during this difficult time.

The late editor-in-chief of the Toledo Daily Blade, Grove Patterson, at the conclusion of one of his speeches said: “My years in the newspaper business have convinced me of several things among them: that people are basically good, and that we came from someplace and we are going someplace, so we should make our time here an interesting adventure. The great architect of the universe didn’t build a staircase leading nowhere.” I count it a tremendous privilege to have known Scott, if only for the last five years, he certainly knew how to "make his time here an interesting adventure". Knowing Scott, I'm sure he's already resuming his journey onward and upwards on God's stairway to heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with you now.

We met Scott Fithian only briefly, but everything we’ve heard and read about him shows he lived up to his high ideals and values, and with talent, enthusiasm and determination, inspired others to do the same.

We realize how hard it will be for his family and friends to go forward with only his legacy, but we also know how much comfort they will bring to one another.

Please accept our heartfelt sympathy.

From Washington State I extend my warmest sympathy to Scott's wife, Arlene, his children, parents and siblings. Scott was a real inspiration to me during my days as a fundraiser at Purdue. From the first time I heard him speak at a Planned Giving conference I was one of his true fans, overjoyed by his thinking and his work. He changed the way I thought and worked as someone meeting with donors and seeking private support for my university. No one could talk about wealth management and the psychological issues related to wealth with more fluency than Scott. My heart is very sad today to learn about Scott's death from cancer. I will never forget his great contributions that enable individuals and families lead value-enhanced lives. Thank you Scott, for your life and work. You will never be forgotten as the pioneer that you were.
