I just found out about this sad news as I no longer live in the northeast. I knew Shawn way back in the 80's when we were both teenagers. He was so funny, personable, and really nice. We became good friends and hung out at the Cambridge music complex where both our bands rehearsed and cool places like Harvard square. I remember always having fun when Shawn was around. I immediately realized after watching him rehearse with his band XLR8 that he was a enormously gifted drummer and in the class of the best pro's in town not his teenage contemporaries, like me, yet he was so humble about his talent. We lost touch as the years moved on but I never forgot about him and really hoped we'd eventually get together again. I'll never forget you Shawn, your friend Walter.

I love you little leprechaun!!!! I pray to God that your suffering has ended- you tried so hard, held on for so long and fought back so many times. I admire you and will always carry you with me.

Shawn was a special person, had the most ackward sense of humor I must say. He was always so good about paying compliments and speaking when he seen you. I will miss him. My last conversation with Shawn was on Friday, the day before he passed, he called me to tell me he was cleaning his place so he could invite me for dinner. I said to him to clean his place and I would come cook him dinner and he demanded, "no, i am going to cook you dinner and you are going to just relax and do nothing" That was the kind of guy he was, what a big heart inspite of any troubles he may have had. happy to have good memories of Shawn. Gone too soon, rest in peace Shawn, we miss you...
