1947 - 2021

WALKER, Sheryl F. "Sherry" Well-Respected Real Estate Broker/Agent At 73 years. A 40 year resident of Boston's South End, died on March 9 at Brigham & Women's Hospital after a protracted illness. Sherry was a real estate agent at William Raveis in Back Bay, and, undaunted by the severity of her illness, she signed papers to sell a property from her hospital bed less than two days before her passing. That's classic Sherry Walker. Sherry was born in Malden, Massachusetts on August 25, 1947 to Florence (Ford) Walker and Frederick M. Walker. Her parents predeceased her. Sherry attended Belmont Public Schools where she met and kept many lifelong friends who supported her through her illness. She graduated from Nasson College in Maine. In some ways Sherry was a study in contrasts. She was buttoned up in business but was also a child of the '60s, complete with the premier baby-boomer credential of having attended Woodstock. She was fun-loving, warm and incredibly generous of heart. Sherry had three distinct careers. After college she held administrative positions at Arthur D. Little and The Polaroid Corporation. In the mid-1970s she turned her attention to public relations, spending 20 years with public relations agencies including powerhouse agency Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos. Twenty years ago, a friend piqued her interest in the real estate business. She studied for her license and quickly became a successful and well-respected broker in Boston. She had won Top Producer in the office and was named Senior Sales Associate. Sherry received the Customer Service Award voted by her clients every year. Clients she was driving to showings often marveled at her ability to zip around Boston's traffic and narrow streets while always driving a stick shift car. Her theory was that if you didn't tap the cars in front and behind you, you really weren't trying. Sherry's early marriage to Anderson Storey of Essex, Massachusetts ended in divorce. Through Andy, however, Sherry met the love of her life, Alonzo D. Saunders. What a couple they were! They shared 43 harmonious and devoted years together until his passing in 2018 from Alzheimer's disease. They loved books, they loved their friends, and they loved jazz. But above all, they loved each other, and everyone could see it. Her life was shortened by her illness, but she packed immense happiness and success into her time on Earth. Sherry is survived by her brother Frederick M. (Rick) Walker, Jr. and his wife Sandy, their daughter Valerie Davila and her husband Carlos, and their two children, Anthony and Malia, all of Watertown, and were benefited by her unconditional love, kindness and support. She was beautiful both inside and out. Despite Sherry's stern warnings that no memorial event be held in her honor, her friends and family intend to override this sometime in the future.
