Sona (Sonny) T. Frissora, 93, a longtime resident of North End Boston, died February 15th, peacefully and with her family by her side, at the Sycamore Brandywine in Shrewsbury, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Stephen, Hanover St., Boston, Saturday, April 30th at 11:00 am, followed by a Private Interment at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Watertown, MA. Sonny, a daughter of the late Daniel and Siranoosh (nee Gulumian) Topjian, was born in Dorchester, MA and was a graduate of Albertus Magnus College in New Haven. She was dedicated to her late husband Anthony and their family, as they moved from Beverly, to Needham, to Brookfield WI and Mendham NJ. She worked for AT&T and later in her career was an event planner for the Morris County Board of Realtors. After retirement, Sonny and Anthony moved to Boston, where they enjoyed their Harbor views, extensive travel (including Europe and an audience with the Pope in Rome) and locally, the camaraderie of friends and family. She was particularly proud of a spontaneous camel ride in Egypt, at the age of 83. Sonny's faith was genuine and she lived every day with joy, whimsy and appreciation, always exemplifying "love thy neighbor". She and Anthony were Eucharistic Ministers at St. Stephen Church. In her later years she participated in a Boston senior citizens memoir writing project - "Born Before Plastic" – and in her essay, she reminisced about her mother's experience as an Armenian immigrant arriving in Ellis Island. Her pride in her roots infused her stories and the traditional dishes she made for family and many visitors to the North End. In 2012 she completed a lifelong dream by traveling to Aintab, Turkey to poignantly walk through the rooms of her family's ancestral home. Sonny was the beloved wife for 53 years of the late Anthony P. Frissora, Sr. and is survived by her sons, Daniel Frissora and his wife Denise of Jacksonville, FL, Henry Frissora, and his wife Audrey Duva-Frissora, of Wenham, Anthony P. Frissora, Jr. and his wife, Katy of Fair Haven, NJ. and Roger Frissora of Elkridge, MD. She is also survived by the grandchildren she adored: Sonia Frissora Ortner (Eric), Michelle Breen (Joe), Teresa Gulo (Kenneth), Joseph Frissora (Danielle), Annamarie Baumler (Colton), Alessandra Frissora-Poston (Andrew), Giuliana Frissora, Paul Frissora and Michael Frissora, and 11 great-grandchildren. Sonny was additionally loved by many in-laws, nieces and nephews and friends, including her North End "family", with whom she enjoyed countless outings, backgammon games, luncheons, and spiritual celebrations.
