Stan will be missed, may he R.I.P in the grave until our heavenly father calls and reward faithful ones with eternal life on a paradise earth, until then sincere condolences

I grew up in Boston in the 1940s and '50s. I remember Stan (who was going by the show-biz name Stan Shaw) coming out to our school in Jamaica Plain and hosting the "Boston Globe WCOP Quizdown." The program was recorded on a so-called wire recorder and later played over radio station WCOP (then 1150 on the AM dial). The wire recorder was a predecessor of the tape recorder. My dad and I sat in the audience for the quizdown, and we were very much impressed both by Stan's vocal skills and by his off-mic acting antics, which were entertaining in their own right. Years later we were both pleased to learn that Stan had it made it in the "big time" because he most certainly had the talent. May he rest in peace.
