I too lost my son to addiction on October 24, 2013. I know the pain that this disease causes so many. I am so very sorry for your loss and the loss of so many good, young people. I pray every day that it gets better. He was enormously handsome and was loved very much by you all. May he find the peace in heaven that he did not find here on earth. May you all remember his love, and the joy he brought you. When we lose our child to addiction, we do not bury the addict, we bury the child. May God bless you all and give you the strength you will need in the upcoming days. -Mary Giroux

Denise, Dave and Ben,

I can't even begin to comprehend what you are going through right now. It's so hard to get my head around it. Please know that if there is anything we can do to support you now and in the future, our family will be there.
I got to meet Ben for the first time in a long time this summer, and although I didn't know Stephen, it's clear what a wonderful family he had fighting alongside him.

Wishing you Peace and Strength

Ralph

Dear Dave, Denise and Ben, I am all too familiar with your broken hearts. There are absolutely no words that will comfort you through this unbearable loss. As you go through this journey remember that this is a long and windy road full of unexpected twists and turns, and very extreme emotions that will constantly pop up and take you by surprise. Remember to be patient with each other, and hold each other close. Stephen has shown us that tomorrow is not promised. Hold each other close. When you come out on the other side of this process remember to focus on creating happy memories with each other. Happy memories were a gift to all of you from Stephen, and he would want you to do the same for each other. While I didn't know him, I can see from his beautiful smile that he had a good soul with a bright light! I love all of you and will always be here for you through this. Love, your cousin Debbie

I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful son, grandson and brother Stephen. I know how hard he fought! Stephen was a friend of my son Austin in the Brady house. I lost my Austin on July 9, 2016 to this awful addiction. I am so glad they got to be friends and help each other. I'm so heartbroken that Stephen is gone. He seemed like such a nice young man. Nothing I say will take your pain away. I wish I could. I'm sending you all my love, prayers and hugs. I will always have Steve's smile in my heart! God bless you all. Fly with the angels Steve! Please be assured that the entire community mourns with you and we are sending peace and love to you today and in the upcoming days and years to follow. Your family has been brave in being forthright and honest about your son's death. Although it must be painful, your sincerity in naming the cause of Stephen's death will help so many many others deal with their own addiction tragedies. This epidemic impacts us all. So, please rest assured that the community/neighborhood/nation is with you in your sorrow and wish you peace and strength in the upcoming days.

Stephen was a very good friend of mine when i lived in Massachusettes. Im a 2010 graduate of Stoneham High School. It breaks my heart every time i hear of someone who struggled with addiction and lost their battle, because I am a addict myself. But when it comes to childhood friends.... I will cry for hours. I just wanted to give my condelences to stephen's family because i live in tennesse i will not be able to attend the wake and funeral. If you guys need anything let me know. R.I.P Douce

I read this with great sadness. One of my sons was a friend of your son. The war on addiction is being fought by families and we are all valiant soldiers. Without training. I applaud your bravery and strength. Brady's Place and the soldiers that remain will continue to wage the battle. Our hearts are breaking for you.
