Stephen McDonough Obituary

McDONOUGH, Stephen J., Ret. BFD Of Hull, formerly of Boston, passed away June 25, 2011. Member of IAFF local 718. Beloved husband of Eileen (McCarthy) McDonough of Hull. Loving father of Alice King and her husband John of Hull, Patrick McDonough and his wife Paula of NH, and Stephen McDonough of Chelsea. Brother of the late Albert, William and Thomas McDonough. Cherished grandfather of Adrienne and Timothy King , Alyssa and the late Catherine McDonough. Also survived by many step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A United States Marine Corp W.W.II Veteran, he was honorably discharged as a Platoon Sergeant in 1946, after serving for six years. Retired from Boston Fire Department in 1987, Stephen worked as a firefighter for 37 years, Engine 7 (Engine 26). He was a member of the International Plastic Modelers' Society (Patriot Chapter), and took great pride in building replicas of WWII airplanes. He volunteered for the American Cancer Society and Toys for Tots. Mr. McDonough was a proud member of the Liars Club, a social club sanctioned by the Boston Fire Department for retirees. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass from St. Mary's Parish in St. Ann's Church, Hull at 10 AM. There will be a private burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Stephen may be made to a charity of your choice.
