As one of Steve's law partners for ten years I can say that he was as generous and open hearted as anyone I have ever known. That big, broad smile, so willingly bestowed, is unforgettable. Whether it was a client's problems, firm business, small talk, or our social occasions, affection was a natural by-product. When Steve, Gordon, and I started, Steve was the only one with any clients, and that was our start! He was that generous. The world is smaller now. I am so sorry, Deanne, Peter, and Kathryn. " I feel the loss of Steve deeply. Steve was mostly on the sidelines of my life except when I deeply needed him. Then he was a full and loving presence. He was that kind of person; he gave with generosity, then he disappeared until needed again. He lived with uncomplicated generosity.

I too am sorry for your loss. I shared an office with Steve and remember him as a very friendly person who made us all very happy to be with him. My best to all of you.

I am saddened to learn of the loss of Steve. We shared an office suite for many years and Steve always made a point to drop by and say hi. It seems like only a short time ago he stopped in to check his mail on one of my computers and tell me about his travels. I will always remember Steve has a true gentle man.

Deanne, So very sorry about Steve. I will always remember him on the swim team racing in the Bowdoin College pool, huge shoulders and a massive swimmer's body. Always kind and with a good word for everyone. Ready to lend a helping hand and interested in others. We may not have agreed but he always followed my political columns when he so ably served the town and I wrote for the Tab. Our friendship with the Waymans and house on the Vineyard extended our family connection. I am so very sorry to have lost such a very good man. He was part of the very fabric of our town and he will be missed. Myrrna and I extend our deepest condolences.
