Stephen Ognacevic Obituary
Stephen M. Ognacevic, age 96, of Sheboygan, died on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Meadow View Manor Nursing Home. He was born in Sheboygan on July 5, 1918, the son of the late Peter and Mary Siprak Ognacevic.
Stephen attended local schools in the Sheboygan area and then enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country during World War II in the 94th Infantry. On October 12, 1940 he was united in marriage to Margaret Bruder in Sheboygan.
He was employed at the Garton Toy Company and then Amira Leather, retiring in 1983. Stephen was also a current member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Sheboygan. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and a Wisconsin sports fan. Stephen especially enjoyed traveling all over the United States with his wife, Margaret.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a son, Robert (Lila) Ognacevic; two grandchildren, Brad Ognacevic and Brian (Shannon) Ognacevic; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Robert, Madeline Grace and Katherine Elizabeth, all of Sheboygan; one brother, Peter (Barbara) Ognacevic, of Sheboygan; and his three sisters, Katherine (Peter) Reano, of Sheboygan Falls, Rose (Gerald) Gaynor, of Sheboygan and Dorothy (Rich) Govek, of Grafton. Stephen is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. His parents, three brothers and two sisters all preceded him death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 818 Huron Ave., Sheboygan with Rev. Matthew J. Widder, officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of Mass at 12:00 P.M. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery with V.F.W. Post 9156 providing Military Honors.
Stephen's family would like to thank Meadow View Manor, Dr. Pawlak and the St. Nicholas Hospital and Hospice for the compassion and care that was given to him.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Stephen's name. The Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home is assisting family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.reinboldfh.com
