To Stephen's family,

I am a Rauseo cousin of Stephen and his sister Chris. Although we haven't seen each other for a very, very long time, I am so sorry that he is no longer here. I express my heart-felt condolences to those he left behind. I remember him mostly from his East Boston days, and how my Uncle Vito was so proud of his baseball skills. From the other messages left here, I realize that he had been a wonderfully kind and thoughtful adult.

Dear Rauseo Family:

Steve was our mailman for years in North Revere. My partner, mymom and I were so shocked to hear he had passed away. I thought he was on vacation. I am sure you must know, but it is probably comforting to hear what a great and caring man he was. He not only had a passion for his job, but he was compassionate to the people he delivered the mail to. He always asked my 88 yr old mom how she was doing and in turn she would caution him to "take it easy". Life should be filled with more men like Stephen and the world would be a better place!

Our sincere condolences to you and your family.

Dear Rauseo Family

Steve was our mail carrier for 15 years. We could not have asked for a better person. The promptness and care with which he delivered
mail can not be replaced ever...we just found out today thinking that he was on vacation. Because the mail was coming after (10:30 a.m) which would never happen if Steve was on the job. Our prayers are with you and the boys. He was so proud of them and you. He always had a smile on his face. and something good to say. He took such an interest in our son Jason. The mail customers at 91 Liberty Ave are sure going to miss him and will never forget him.

Ah Linda, remember when Rick & I visited on our bikes. Stephen thought it was so cool I rode a bike. I enjoyed my many discussions with him on insurance and I know he appreciated me (with you on my side). I'll miss our discussions and will miss our time in Vegas. When we were in Vegas we were the "bad guys" having fun! Just remember if you need me I'll be there! I know you'll miss him! Love Claire

To the Rauseo Family- I am an alumnus (Charter member) of the (now) old "Broadway Gang" that Steve grew up with in East Arlington-back in the day. I learned of his passing last night from another Alum. (Robie) and wanted to express my condolences to all of you. I had not seen Steve in many years but it sure sounds like he went on to become a terrific family man and a fine person. He'll always be among my short list of "boyhood 'buds" that I shared alot of good times and laughs with while growing up - along with roughly 2,000 baseball/stick ball- street hockey-football and basketball games at Crosby School-which back then was our field of dreams! I also will always remember his folks- Ev and Vito- who were 2 terrifically warm and entertaining persons that I recall fondly. I'm sure that as family members you all have many great memories of Steve and what he meant to all of you. Cherish those memories and take pride in them through this difficult time.

many years, we were all shocked and saddened to hear of his sudden passing, please know that Steve was a friend as well as a mail carrier.
We will all miss him dearly, we will miss seeing him eveyday, and giving him a snack with his coffee, so he could rest for a bit. He often talked of his family, who I know was very important to him. We at the Courtyard will miss him Dearly

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Linda and sons,
Steve was one of the best people I have ever met in my life. Working with him and knowing him for the past 3 1/2 years was a part of my life I will cherish forever. Talking about the Red Sox was one of our daily occurances. He would beam with pride whenever he spoke of his sons. Fatherhood , to him, was worn like a badge of honor. He would also talk of how he married his best friend and was as happy after all these years married as he was on your wedding day. He will be sorely missed by all, but forgotten by none. Rest In Peace, Buddy!
