Steven Roe Schatz

Age 66, of Naples, FL. Passed away on May 7, 2008. He was born in Melrose Park, IL in 1941. Steve earned his bachelors degree in journalism from the University of Missiouri-Columbia in 1963 and became an Emmy award winnng television journalist. He worked in major television markets, including CBS in Washington, DC, NBC in Boston and Detroit and CNN in Atlanta. Prior to attending the University of Missiouri, Steve played football for Wake Forest University in the 1950's. A 13 year resident of Naples, Steve was an avid reader and eloquent writer who loved football, baseball and horse racing. A devoted grandfather "PaPa Steve" took great joy in celebrating birthdays and special occassions with his grandchildren. The gift of his compassion, intelligence and incredible sense of humor will be forever cherished by his family. Steve is survived by his former wife Nancy Schatz of McLean, VA, younger brother David Schatz of Osprey, FL, two daughters Stacy (Ed) Swierenga of Allex, TX and Amy (Sean) Browne of Litiz, PA, two sons Michael (Julie) Schatz of Atlanta, GA and Casey Schatz of Los Angeles, CA and seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends and loved ones on Monday May 12th from 3 to 4:30 at Naples Memorial Funeral Home, 525 111th Ave., North, Naples, FL 239 597 3101.
