Al hired me back in 1978 right out of college while at Zayre Corp. He made me feel like one of "the gang" from the start...He let me and my friends enjoy the cottage in Bethleham any time we wanted to...He was one of a kind and although I have not seen him in 28 years I still think of him and know what a great person he was.

I had the honor to get to know Al at PetEdge in 2007 when he created and designed the blueprint for our big move to Beverly and I had the honor in seeing his smiling face just a few months ago. He left his "footprint" in all of our surroundings and lives and will not be forgotten.

Rest in Peace

To Jennifer, Stephen and the entire Smith family-I am so very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. Although it has been many, many years since I have seen you and your Dad, I still remember him when we used to stay and ski at your house in Bethlehem. NH. So many good memories and good times. I hope all those good memories of your Dad soon chase away the tears and bring a smile to your face again.
With deepest sympathy at this very difficult time.

It is so very sad we had planned to meet Allan in a few weeks' time and this has been taken from us. We feel we have lost a dear friend and relative who, although we had never met, we had come to know through a constant exchange of e mails over the last few months since Allan traced his biological family. Our thoughts are with Ann, Steve and Jen and their families and we sincerely hope we will be able to continue the connection with you all.
How we mourn the opportunity of getting to know such a wonderful person. We send our love and support to you all.
Sheila and David Taylor - Montrose, Scotland and The Villages, Florida.

Al helped me not only with his work at PetEdge, but in his passion for football. As a Steelers fan, he graciously let me join him and his friends in attending two Patriot/Steelers games at Gillette. I know that he would be happy with today's game result. His enthusiasm for skiing and his resolve to live an active life, were inspirational.

Over the years friends drift in and out of your lives. All the memories you share though come back the instant you think of them. Our memories are filled with many wonderful times with your parents when we were all dating, many parties and skiing days at Cannon with all of you and times in NH at our houses. The minute we'd connect again, it was just like we had never had time apart. We'll miss your Dad til we meet again.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am glad to have known him even for a short time.

It was an absolute delight to meet Al during this past Jamaica Plain Open Studios. I was showing with Ann and Al was nothing short of very funny, helpful and kind. It's not easy to spend two intense art and retail days with relative strangers. He and Ann were such a great pair and I loved being around them during that weekend.

I wish that you find comfort and peace in the sweet memories of Al, and in the love for and with each other.

Peace and light.
