Remembering Dr Gochberg recently with my daughter. He delivered her in 1977 at Beth Israel. He was so kind and caring. He asked after she was born was there anything I needed. I asked for a chocolate glazed donut. About 20 minutes later he arrived at my bedside big smile and a donut for me.
May he always be in your hearts.

Im so sorry for your loss. My mom Polly Taylor and my aunt Christine worked at your home in Newton many years ago. I'm Shirley...the girl that almost drowned in Crystal Lake. I believe Lynne saved me. I would love to talk to anyone who remembers, call anytime at 617-935-4656. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.

Dr. Gochberg was our ob for all three of our children. We still remember him fondly and what a caring person he was. Talk about doing God's work. We're sure he is up there. Coincidentally, our youngest did his internship and residency at B.I. in Medicine.

Sumner was a superb older brother. He was my model and protector in our elementary school years. He leaves an empty space in my heart.

Sumner was my doctor and delivered my daughter Deena in the Lying-In hospital in 1966. I knew him through his Aunt Ann (Honey) Gerrig (deceased) who was my mom's best friend from their teenage years in Roxbury and their lives in Stoughton when we all lived there, c1956. He was so nice and I had such a crush on him; he was so handsome! I remember when he retired; I used to see him occasionally at family gatherings in Randolph, Massachusetts. Our condolences from Mary Neiman and me, Tamara Neiman Berton and Deena Berton, whom he delivered.

Though I only knew Sumner for a short time, and only saw him and his lovely wife at Shabbat services, I will miss what he gave to everyone who was fortunate enough to have known him. What a brilliant mind he possessed and the knowledge he shared with the congregants at our Friday night discussions enriched our experience and in future will be sorely missed. A truly wonderful man.
