SCANLAN, Thomas M. Our beloved Thomas passed away unexpectedly on July 2nd. Thomas attended Brookline High School, Bunker Hill Community College, Tufts University & Metropolitan State University. He was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society and interned with the REU/RTI Bioengineering Research Project at Harvard University. Thomas lived in Minnesota where he was a software engineer for Matrix Care. He enjoyed cooking, writing, music, wrestling, Jiu-jitsu and international travel. Thomas is survived by his mother, Sarah, his father, Thomas Joseph, his sister, Carolyn, and grandmother Connie, as well as his extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the NAMI Organization, www.nami.org Visiting Hours: Visiting Hours and Memorial Service are on July 7th, 12-2 at Mann & Rodgers Funeral Home, 44 Perkins St., JAMAICA PLAIN, MA 02130. Reception to follow at The Old Colony Yacht Club, 235 Victory Rd., Dorchester, MA 02122.

I met Thomas at out first Computer Science course at Bunker Hill. Together we went on to do research at Harvard and both transferred to Tufts at the same time. He was such a passionate human being. He had an infectious laugh and positive energy that will be sorely missed.

Still cannot believe it. I spoke to you a day before you passed away. I pushed you to complete your degree and you had a great life ahead of you my friend. You will be missed at MatrixCare. We are so sad to hear this. Our thoughts and prayers are going out to Thomass parents and sister and entire family. Bother my husband and I work for MatrixCare and saw him often in the halls as we walked for a coffee or water. Thomas has a great smile and used it often! He will be missed. Still cannot believe it. I worked closely with Thomas on a project at MatrixCare and enjoyed the brilliant insights he brought to the challenges we faced. In fact, we are now using the process/methods/code that he developed with our team on other projects in the company! I personally enjoyed talking to him about his career and personal growth whenever I visited Minnesota. We will all miss him as our beloved colleague at Matrixcare!

I'm saddened at the loss of Thomas. He was a very smart and bright young man. Even though we didn't work in the same office I always enjoyed working with him remotely. He was very talented at what he did and was always eager to learn new things and help a person in need. So sad to see him leave this world so early.
