Dear Tim & Family:
When I stood in Copley Square that fall morning and held up my sign: I heart Wake. Thanks for being the unselfish hero of 2007, I guess that I not only expressed my feelings about you, but also the feelings of a significant amount of members of Red Sox Nation. I am honored that you included the sign on your Wikipedia's page and in your autobiography.
I am devastated by your loss at such a young age and my prayers go to Stacey and the kids. Will miss your bright blue eyes, wicked smile, your sly sense of humor, but most of all, your kind and generous heart. Love you buddy. Robert

Wake, you were the soldier for my Red Sox. There was no I or me in Tim Wakefield. There was only the team. Oh how my heart broke for you on that night in 2003. I wanted to reach into my TV and give you a hug. Then came October 2004 and that awful game 3. You walked to that mound head up, steady and strong and you saved us. We all know what happened next!!! Thank you Wake for always being there for the team. My husband and I sure enjoyed watching your knuckleball dance. It was something! Oh how we rooted for you to win 200 and I voted everyday to get you to the All Star Game. The Red Sox, Red Sox Nation and the Boston Community all owe you so much. You where one of the good ones. Gonna miss you Wake. May the angels welcome you to paradise. Rest In Peace. My deepest sympathies to Mrs. Wakefield, her children, and all of Wake's family and friends. Much love from this Born Into It Red Sox Fan.

Dear Wakefield family, words cannot express the deep sadness that has engulfed me this week upon hearing the shocking news of Tim´s illness and sudden passing, and of Stacy´s illness too. God will certainly take good care of Tim after the enormous amount of good that he has done over his lifetime. He made the world a much better place, especially in Boston and in Florida, where he was my best buddy and college roommate for a few years. I gain a bit solace in reading all the heartwarming tributes that have been pouring in. I will keep your family in my daily prayer forever, wishing that God will give you all strength in the coming days & years, especially you, Stacy, as well as Trevor & Brianna. Wish I could also give big hugs to Mr & Mrs Wake (Steve & Judy), my Florida "parents" from 1986~88, and to sister Kelly. God bless you all.

My grandfather threw the knuckleball while playing semi pro ball in Western MA back in the 20´s & 30´s. My grandfather helped me to become a HUGE Red Sox fan(never miss a game). Went to my first game with him in 1980, he passed away in 1986 and I have always carried with me that great love of the game because of him. The only Jersey I ever purchased was the one that said Wakefield on the back. One of my faves! I just knew my grandfather would have loved him. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. Ive cried quite a bit since learning of his passing. Just doesn´t seem fair. Too darn young. Sending strength and healing to his family.
