TREVOR ETHERIDGE Obituary

ETHERIDGE, Trevor

"Fear is life's only true opponent. Only fear can defeat life." – Life of Pi by Yann Martel

Trevor David Etheridge, 29, of Boston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 15th, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer, with his family and loving husband by his side. Trevor was born on September 25, 1992, to Connie and the (late) Ben Etheridge in Portland, ME. After graduating from high school in Maryland in 2010, Trevor went on to study Marine Biology at Boston University. He used this degree to pursue a career in environmental sustainability at the Save the Harbor/Save the Bay Foundation in Boston, MA as a grant writer and development manager.

Raising money for good causes came easily to Trevor, a skill he probably got from his dad. He participated in several fundraising rides for JDRF with his father. His work had an event every year called the Shamrock Splash that had volunteers jumping into the icy cold March ocean to raise money for Boston beaches, with Trevor front and center leading the way in his leprechaun costume. Trevor was an amazing runner, and impressive skier. He loved to speed down black diamond runs with his family chasing behind him. He preferred the city to the lake but found great pleasure in picking up family members and tossing them off the dock in Maine. Trevor enjoyed going to movies and concerts and loved a wide variety of music.

Trevor met his husband, Matthew Phillipps in 2016. They wed recently in a quiet ceremony. Trevor and Matt visited the places they most wanted to see, spent time with their beloved friends, and made the most of every moment they had together.

Trevor is survived by his mother, Connie; his husband, Matthew; his twin sister, Megan; his sister, Marisa; and his grandmother, Francis.

A Celebration of Life followed by a reception will be held at the Artists for Humanity EpiCenter, 100 W. 2nd Street, Boston, MA 02127 at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 1.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Trevor Project, an organization that supports LGBTQ young people by helping to build a safer more inclusive world. Donations can be made at https://give.thetrevorproject.org/ or mailed to The Trevor Project, PO Box 69232, West Hollywood, CA 90069.

So very sorry to hear about this. We never met Trevor but consider Matt's husband to be family. We know from personal experience what this devastating disease does and our hearts are with all of you at this time. Glad Matt and Trevor could take the time they had to make memories and enjoy life. Thinking of all of you. Live Madeline and Beth.

I knew Treavor from his grandmother, Fran. Fran and I have been friends for over 70 years. Her grandchildren are the lights of her life. Treavor was her only grandson. She was so proud of him.
She loved him so much. When she talked with Treavor on the phone she was delighted. Later his messages to her on her phone always made her so happy. Always proud of Treavor. Always close to her heart and always in her prayers. I could always hear her love on the phone or in person when she talked about him. Treavor, you will be missed so much. Blessings to you all.

Thial personough I never met or knew Trevor or your family, nor Matthew, I am sad to read this news. But, I am heartened by what a special person he seems to have been. I am struck with his concern and generosity for others. Matthew, I understand your pain, having been through the same. Take life one day at a time.and no one can tell you how long or what process to use , as you eventually begin to heal. I pray for all of you healing, support, strength and peace, in some way. Trevor will never truly leave you. He will be with you and live on in the stories, memories and traits he exhibited.
