Saddly I just heard the news of Trygs passing. I have fond memories of our families growing up together. Our parents were great friends and we spent wonderful weekends at the farm in Nassau riding and playing Marco Polo in the pool. Dogs were always around and people were always happy. Again I wish I knew earlier but our family will always have fond memories of Tryg and his entire family. Best wishes Carrie Lang and family

Our dearest son in law
It has taken almost a year for us to finally accept what is true. You have left us and the pain in this earthly life to find peace and solitude in another realm. We think of you every day and hope that your journey has been a joyous one. We know full well that while Laurene, Alex and Andrew are left behind that you hold them so dear and close to your heart. I remember only too well the promise Laurene made to you in Hawaii if you needed to leave these earthly bounds. She promised to be strong and she has been. We will you miss you Tryg and do every day of our lives. Love Mom and Dad. Ps I call your cell number every so often to hear your voice. You have been our joy and we love you more than you know.

Laurene, Alexandra, and Andrew, I am so sorry to hear of Trygve's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time in your lives. I hear from Sally in her Christmas card we received today about Trygve passing and was greatly sadden at the loss of such a fine human being.

I have read all of the memorials sent as testament to the upstanding citizen, husband, father, and man that Trygve had become and wish to add a bit of history to his memorial.

My encounter with Trygve goes all the way back to the day he was born. I can remember how happy Dr. Swift and Marit were when they announced to the neighbors in East Nassau that they were going to have another child. Trygve brother Andrew and I met in 1952 and are still the best of friends to this day as well as with Sally. When Trygve was born I was 16 and Andrew was 15 but was attending a private school in Massachusetts. It was during the time from 1961 to 1963 I knew Trygve, mostly as a baby sitter for all three of the boys, (Staale, Eric and Trygve). My time with all of the boys was very short because when I graduated from High school and went off to college and lost contact with all them. I knew when they became involved in high school sports that Doc and Marit move from East Nassau to Manning Blvd in Albany which was a great move for their secondary education. I believe the last time I saw Trygve was again at a memorial service for Dr. Swift.

I am truly saddened by his passing at such an early age and I hope you can keep in your hearts all the great things that he accomplished while he was with us and know that we will all see him again at a latter time.

Laurene, Alex, and Andrew, I am so sorry that you are experiencing this painfull loss. It is obvious that Tryg has touched so many lives in such a positive way. From the first day that Tryg and I met as freshmen at Hartwick, the very special friendship that we developed will be cherished forever. Tryg packed a lot of life in those 50 years and I am honored and grateful to have been a big part of his life. Not a week would go by without checking in with eachother and I could always count on a hearty laugh, even at his lowest moments during the whole transplant process. His genuineness, positive attitude, love for his family, environment, and life in general is an inspiration to those who know him. Tryg, you made the world a better place... I will miss you greatly. Peace Brother

I only spent 3 semesters at Hartwick with Tryg. But the brotherly bond of being Crow Brothers lasts a lifetime. In Tryg's case longer. I will never forget his caring smile and infectious personality. Even though I hadn't seen him since the Wick days, I think of him often. My heart and prayers go out to his family and friends. He was truly a one of a kind person. Thanks Tryg for being my brother.

Like others, I too am deeply saddened by the passing of Tryg Swift. I worked with Tryg for MTA on the Big Dig in the Environmental Department. Tryg was such a great guy. He came to work each day with a big smile and a can do attitude. Tryg never let adversity cloud his positive outlook on life. Besides being a dedicated worker, Tryg had a wonderful sense of humor that never failed to bring levity to a given situation . To me, working on the Big Dig was like having another family. With Tryg's passing, I have not only lost a good friend, but a beloved member of that family. My deepest condolences to Laurene, Alexandra and Andrew. Tryg lived his life well and will be fondly remembered by the many people whose lives he touched, both personally and professionally. RIP Tryg.

I met Tryg this year. He was the soccer coach for my stepson, who is new to town and needed to feel included. Tryg recognised that need, and beyond the seasons sign-up deadline, made him feel included with his sensitivity and deep respect toward others. With a smile as large as Wyoming, I will deeply miss a man of such dignity and class.

My heart goes out to the Swift family. I knew Tryg from the Needham Science Center, where he would come by to pick up animals for programs, or for the summer vacation. The days when he came in were always good days, he was a truly wonderful person.

A sad day for all that new Tryg and especially for the family he cared so much about. Hung out with Tryg and Lazorik a few years back and low and behold, I faced the same wonderful guy who worked hard to include me in Crow House and was my Big Brother. Today doesn't seem real...You will be missed.

My God, I'm so sorry to hear of Tryg's passing. He was and remains a magnificent man and an inspiration for us all. I will never forget the day Tryg rescued a wounded hawk and brought it into the office at the Big Dig. That event was only eclipsed by the night he, Curtis and I spent on Spectacle Island ridding the island of those pesky muskrats. I will miss him.

In our lives we cross paths with hundreds of people every day, but every once in a while we are lucky enough to cross paths with an exceptional person that instantly makes us want to be a better person. Trygve Swift was one of these people in our family's life, whose zest for living and his unwavering love for his family and friends was truly infectious. With his passing the void left behind in the life's of his family and friends seems to vast to ever be bridged. But by living our lives with the same passion that Trygve lived his, we honor his memory and pass that passion onto others that we meet. You were a great husband, father, brother, and friend Trygve…you will be missed by all that had the pleasure of meeting you even once, truly unforgettable!

I write this as do others with a heavy heart. Tryg was one of those rare individuals that was able to approach life with a warmth and openness that few are able to articulate. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a great father, and a very good friend.

Like a number of folks who have and will post here, I had the privilege of meeting Tryg very early in our college careers and later lived with him at 50 Maple St. "The Big Norwegian" was easy to get to know and and easier to like -- genuine, generous, personable, and devoid of pretense. Years and miles later, he's still one of those people you are glad to have met and spent time with. Sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
