VENERANDA SCIORTINO Obituary

SCIORTINO, Veneranda "Vinnie" (Capoccia) Age 98, of Medford, North Andover, and Winchester passed away on April 22, 2022 at ARTIS Senior Living in Reading.

Born in Boston, Veneranda was the daughter of the late Nazzareno and Elenora (Maronni) Capoccia, wife of the late Louis C. Sciortino, and sister of the late Nanda Matera, Yolanda Calla, and Anthony Capoccia. She was the daughter-in-law of the late Guy and Elizabeth Sciortino and sister-in-law of the late Charles Sciortino. Veneranda was the devoted mother of Louis C. Sciortino, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Reading, Robert Sciortino and his wife Maureen of Winchester, Stephen Sciortino of Swampscott, and Rhonda Sady and her husband Michael of North Andover. She was the loving grandmother ("Noni") of Christopher, Robert, Lauren, Daniel, Anthony, Kimberly, Talia, Alyssa, Christian, and 13 great-grandchildren. Vinnie is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and several special friends.

Veneranda was a proud graduate of Girls Latin School in Boston. She was employed for many years as a supervisor at the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority.

Vinnie was a wonderful, caring person and she adored her family, enjoying many memorable occasions over the years. She was famous for her pizzelles, biscottis, eggplant parm and lasagna. A master game player, she especially loved Uno, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy and was a fun-loving competitor who will be greatly missed. Visitation time will be at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD on Friday, April 29th at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Clement's Church, 60 Warner St., Somerville, MA 02144 at 11 a.m., followed by Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Veneranda's name to the Nanda C. Matera Art Fund c/o the Italian Home for Children, 1125 Centre St., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
