I came across what is obituary completely by accident. But I saw the picture and remembered his face. I worked with Woody many, many years ago at Raytheon. He was genuinely one of the kindest, friendliest and most caring people I’ve ever met. Even after all these years, remembering him coming down the hall with a big smile on his face brings a smile to my face. May his soul rest in peace.

On my dresser is a treasure chest that Woody made for me. Like Woody, it is sturdy, one of a kind handcrafted with a secret compartment that you cannot see at first glance.

Woody was a man of action with a lot of hidden talents. He showed his affection by doing.

Living next door to Woody all these years has taught me a lot. I would have an idea and, soon I described the idea to him, he would come over with an exquisitely drawn sketch. I loved these sketches. They were itemized by materials and had numbered steps. He taught me that all problems can be solved if you break it down and if you have a Woody next door.

He was fiercely in love with Betsy and always proud of his children and grandchildren.

Woody was always active working at the library, making wood kits for children to put together and share his love of woodworking. There where ships, games, animals and my favorite, the cars that ran on elastic bands. There was always something to fix or that needed to be made. In his hands every thing had potential. In my studio is a light Woody made for me from a coffee can and wires -- not flashy but like Woody a light that always shines. I will miss him dearly.

Dear Maureen and family,

Sending you my sympathy on the death of your father. I taught at Concord Academy when he was there. I remember him well. The students loved and respected him and he did so many fun woodworking projects with them. I didn't realize until I read his obituary that he and I were both born in the Bronx and that he was a New Yorker. May he rest in peace.

With Love,

Chris (Erin's mom)
