Wayne Elsmore Obituary

ELSMORE, Wayne L. Of Quincy, passed away on Friday, January 07, 2011 after a long bout with ALS. Beloved husband of the late Delores Hennessey and Phyllis J. Elsmore. Devoted father of Pamela J. Taylor of Abington, Wayne L. Elsmore of NY, Paul D. Elsmore of FL, David E. Elsmore of VA, Donna L. Sandri of Plymouth, Thomas B. Elsmore of Randolph, Debra L. Miglorino of Ashburnham, Michael F. Hennessey of FL, Patrick J. Hennessey of NH and Kellie A. Hennessey of Quincy. Loving brother of Bernard Elsmore of TX, Ronald Elsmore of OR, Forrest Elsmore of Randolph, Linton Elsmore of Cape Cod and the late Lee Elsmore. Cherished Grampy of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Wayne was born in Brockton and raised and educated in South Boston. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1955 as an Avionic Navigation Systems Technician and completed a tour in Japan and Korea, retiring in 1975 as a MSgt. He has lived in the Houghs Neck section of Quincy for the last 37 years. Wayne worked at Northeastern University as a Physics Lab Technician, retiring after 15 years of work. Wayne's main hobby was baseball and was an avid Red Sox Fan. He was involved in organizing a Little League on Hickham AFB in Hawaii and was both a coach and President of the Little League Organization in Quincy. He also enjoyed wood crafting, gardening, sports, collecting and cooking. He was a longtime member, Treasurer and President of the American Legion Post #380. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Friday 2 - 4 & 7-9 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday in Keohane Funeral Home at 12 PM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of Wayne may be made to the ALS Association Massachusetts Chapter, 320 Norwood Park South, Norwood, MA 02062. www.als-ma.org. I grew up with Wayne in South Boston. We went all through school together from 1st grade to High School. He was very proud of his high school and always attended our class reunions and had his classbook up to date on where everyone was..
